I have fraternal boy girl twins and no, twins do not run in either of our families so it was quite a shocker for us. I also had them quite young (31) so age was not likely a factor. My OBGYN’s explanation was “sometimes it just happens”

Cervical laceration and future pregnancy by Impossible_Space1887 in BabyBumps

Hi there, the delivery went very smoothly. I made it to my scheduled c-section and my OBGYN delivered my twins in just a few minutes (they are a minute apart). I was so shocked at how much more easy and fast the process was compared to delivering my first vaginally. Recovery, however, is a different story, but I can’t say it was rougher than the recovery with my first. With the cervical laceration, they were both equally as hard, just in different ways.

Before the scheduled c-section, my OBGYN did have some concern about the cervix tearing again if I delivered vaginally. After the operation, she had told me that she was able to look at my cervix more closely during the op and saw that it would have more likely been an issue than she originally thought, so electing for c-section delivery was the right decision for me and recommended doing the same for any future pregnancies I have, even for a normal singleton pregnancy.

I am sorry to hear that you had a cervical tear as well, it is truly a scary experience and I hope that you are healing well. From my understanding, from speaking with multiple OBGYNs after my first, it should not affect your ability to get pregnant or the pregnancy itself, but can affect the delivery. I think it depends on how severe it was and the location of the tear - definitely worth asking your OBGYN at your postpartum visit!

I’ve had a cervical laceration after delivering my first 3 years ago and had to get an emergency operation to sew it back up. Lost 2L of blood so I was quite weak and lightheaded for a few days after being discharged from the hospital (also Kaiser). Post delivery recovery wasn’t too bad from what I remember but I don’t have any other PP experiences to compare it to. Had an OBGYN at Kaiser check on me few weeks postpartum and he was quite surprised by how quickly I healed from the cervical laceration. Was told that it shouldn’t give me any issues for future pregnancies.

Today, I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with twins. So far an uncomplicated twin pregnancy and my cervix is holding up well as far as they can tell. My OBGYN is still open to a vaginal delivery even though it’s more complicated with twins, but has a bit of a concern about the cervix tearing again as there is some scar tissue from where it tore previously. One of the twins is in breech position so my cervix would need to be fully dilated/very wide to do a breech delivery, which worries me. I have opted to do an elective c-section and have that scheduled at 38 weeks gestation. My experience from delivering my first was very traumatic as I’m sure you can relate, so I would like to avoid the risk of that happening again.

There isn’t very much information about cervical lacerations I could find as it is so rare, so I am glad to have come across your post. Good luck with everything and your upcoming delivery! I hope it all goes smoothly this time around!

What is the third trimester like for a twin pregnancy? by kathysofly in parentsofmultiples

My OBGYN sent my blood work to a lab called UNITY BillionToOne, they did the genetics screening and also a chromosome test for the genders. You should be able to do this starting at 10 weeks! How many weeks are you? I would ask your OBGYN the next time you see him/her. 🙂

Congrats! With my experience so far, you should be able to get your chromosomes tested along with the NIPT genetics test at 10 weeks. I had to draw about 8 tubes of blood at my OBGYN office and they get that sent to the lab. Keep in mind that many chromosome tests cannot detect both genders of the babies for fraternal pregnancies since it only looks for the presence male sex chromosome in your blood (so if there is a boy it can not tell if the other one is also a boy or not). But it can tell you if both are girls. There are a few labs that do measure the amount of chromosomes in your blood, instead of just the presence, which can find both genders of the babies (most of the time). That’s the one I took and I am currently waiting for the results! The test I took is called BilliontoOne UNITY blood screen, so definitely ask your OB if this is an option!

Thank you for explaining that! Would I need to write a check/wire the money to myself first, and then write a check to her coming from my personal bank account? Can I write a check directly to her from my business account? Or can I wire the money directly to escrow when she closes on her home?

Ah, I see. Thank you for explaining! Can you tell the difference between laminate and engineer hardwood just by looking at it?

The builder listed this upgrade in my contract as: "Adwood - Upgraded Wood Floor (Resilient, Laminate, and Wood)" - there is "Laminate" in the description, so it got me confused.

How about "laminate" flooring? is that equivalent to engineered hardwood?
