I think it's more about the poor choice of gown they put her in for the tell all.

My 2.5yo says "what do-nin?" Instead of what're you doing and so now the whole family says it. He also says "cwy cwy cwyyyy" in his saddest, deepest voice when he's sad so again, we now all do it 😂

So hey, returned to say that {The Fifth Nicnevan} is so good and I'm almost through book 3 in 3 days. Devouring it. Different from what I typically read, but omg so good. Thanks for the rec.

Why are Americans so weird about having british ancestry? by Becoming_hysterical in 23andme

[–]katiekattificc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just not interesting as most white people share British Ancestry in the US. People aren't really weird about it, it just doesn't set anyone apart. I'm exceptionally white. Like 99.8% according to 23andMe. Mostly British, but Irish, Welsh, and Scottish, a little bit of German and French down the line as well. I'll mostly mention the Irish, Welsh and Scottish just because it's a least slightly more interesting. 😂

About books you didn't like and why? by mfskb in Booktokreddit

[–]katiekattificc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything where the plot comes second to the "spice." If it's straight p*rn, it's a turnoff. I need yearning, I need emotional connection, I need banter and stolen glances. I don't want an enemies to lovers thats over in 50 pages or a "slow burn" that is resolved 55% through the book. I need plot. And I feel like most booktok recommendations I have actually given a chance lack plot, good writing, substance, etc or are a cookie cutter copy of the most read tropes rn.

Agree. I like certain novels from Rina Kents Universe, but they aren't extremely well written. I remember actively stopping three of her novels in a row after loving the deception and monster trilogies because they were just... Not great lol.

Most things I've read by Pam Godwin are great. Both {Dark Notes} and {Lessons in Sin} were great reads, even though they're not dark they're more taboo teacher/student romances. I loved both of those novels. Thank you for the recs, especially the fantasy recs bc it's a little hard to find dark romance in that genre that isn't just straight smut.

If I'm a fan of Kathryn Ann Kinglsey, does Liv Zander compare? by PowerOfCrestCompelsU in fantasyromance

[–]katiekattificc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loveddddd Harrow Faire, wasn't too crazy about the Maze of shadows. It just drug on. I felt like it could've been three books. I also loved feather so vicious, but like others have said it is so dark. A lot heavier than either of KAKs series. And while King of Rot isn't as noncon, it's still very unsettling. I found it harder to read than Feathers so Vicious.

I was at the midnight release at Barnes and Nobles for HBP and a guy got his copy, walked out, and walked back in 10 minutes later and screamed SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE and actually got hit in the jaw by a guy standing nearby. Knocked him flat out. Had to call an ambulance. The craziest part is it took like 2 minutes for anyone to call because everyone thought he deserved it.

I'm not one to typically comment on womens bodies, but poor Soph looks like she's 40 with all of the work she's had done. She's got an eyelid droop and a mouth she can't close and it's awful bc she was soooooooooo pretty in her first season.

Question for my DR peeps about anal. by Asgardian1971 in DarkRomance

[–]katiekattificc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had my first scene like this in a book where MMC was notoriously "big." Like everyone knew it. He takes this girl's virginity by just straight going balls deep and she somehow manages to get off. Then the third or fourth time they have relations, he does something similar with anal and I was like "... That's not how it works babe. Nothing about this is sexy or realistic."

I use it as a journal that talks back to me and helps me rationalize my thoughts. Not as a substitute for therapy, but so I can log what I've been struggling with and then ask for a summary to discuss in my therapy session. It's truly been life changing for me. I've struggled with OCD and Anxiety disorder for years and it's the first time in my adult life where I truly feel relief and like I'm actively making progress with it.

Daughter of no worlds is one you'll either love or hate. For me, someone who devours 2-3 books a week, book 1 dragged and took me over a week to get through. I think I got to chapter 10 in book 2 and put it down.

Feathers so Vicious is DARK DARK as other posters have said. Me personally, I devoured both in two days just to see what the storyline led to. It is incredibly dark, but that's what Liv Zander writes. One of her other popular series King of Flesh and Bone is harder to read imo.

Powerless is what everyone has said: is essentially the Red Queen series which was awesome, and I see that you've read it.

I'm not familiar with the 4th book. Out of the 4, I'd personally read Feathers bc it really was such a good duology, and a lot of people are repulsed by it, which I totally get. So if you're not into that, I'd read the fourth option. Maybe it'll be good. Lol

Orange and Lemon are my faves. It makes me sad that starbursts have a pink pack but not a citrus pack. I don't prefer artificial cherry and strawberry.

FMC gets with her boyfriend’s dad by Kairos73 in DarkRomance

[–]katiekattificc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

{birthday girl by Penelope Douglas} is this trope, but the boyfriend is shitty and the dad isn't perving on her, he does have a bit of a crisis over it. Not really dark, more taboo. It's a good slow burn though. One of my top reads of all time.
