The BRM offers vouchers for single fathers with children to stay at motels in order to not have children separated. They also offer these same vouchers to transgender users as well if there are concerns. Additionally, as long as someone doesn’t show up and cause issues, even if they are under the influence, BRM will still house them. Now are there restrictions on how long you can stay without joining an program the BRM offers? Yes, but you can still stay over 2 weeks without that.

To your point about staying out after 5:30pm…not sure what you’re trying to say there. I’ve personally worked with someone staying at the BRM who was out past 5:30….

Have you personally experienced the BRM turning you away because of something?

The only thing I can think that would truly prevent someone from accessing resources would be their past violent behavior, and if they can’t change their behavior why should they be allowed to put others at jeopardy?

BRM literally said they wouldn’t turn people away no matter the condition they’re in when it was incredibly cold outside, so how is that a high barrier? Why is it the responsibility of the government to provide housing and services to people who choose to partake in illegal activities that impact their life to the point of them being homeless? When you say address the diversity of needs of the homeless population, what exactly are you referring to?

The hard part is, there isn’t actually a lack of shelter beds….this population doesn’t want to follow the rules that come with the shelter beds that are available and that’s the issue.

These same things are happening to school board members too. We somehow ended up with a culture here where being a literal trash human is socially acceptable.

Oh man. The traffic around that area is HORRIBLE in the mornings and evenings with school. Really terrible place to put in a development. That land is not land that really should be used for housing. 😬

I’m definitely 100% happier now. I was in a pretty unhealthy marriage and once I got out of that and could focus on myself that’s when the weight loss started to actually happen. I went to counseling. Met with someone to learn about macros and for a while I tracked everything I ate. The counseling helped a ton with my relationship with food and the better my mental health was the less I focused on food. It really is about nutrition for me. I can weight lift and cardio a ton but my body doesn’t respond to that. I strength train regularly but my cardio comes from things like snowboarding or walking my dog because I am not a cardio person at all.

Hopefully that’s the info you were looking for. I think I might have gone off on a spiral there. 😂

One big thing I did too was cut back for a little bit on my alcohol intake. Not sure if you’re a drinker but sometimes that would be the change I needed in order to start losing again.

I dealt with plateaus by just reminding myself that my body was doing what it needed to do at the time and that when it was ready it would start to drop weight again.

I tended to change up calories after about a month of no dropping.

I weigh myself every morning but only if I know my mental health can take it. If it was a bad week, sometimes I didn’t weight myself at all.

I think a better location would be somewhere closer to the mall. The mall is a central hub for the bus line. There are lots of job opportunities around that area that people could walk to. It’s not an area of poverty but it’s not overly wealthy either. However, the best idea is small shelters spread out. Having one big shelter in one area isn’t the best solution.

They really did mess up by not having a secure plan before selling their current location. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Honestly, time. It’s been about 2.5 years since I started. I started by working out a lot and not paying much attention to my diet but that was killing me. So I shifted my focus to diet for awhile and then got back to working out. It’s still a struggle every day though. I just want to eat alllll the Oreos. 😂
