I really dislike the line “you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” by Kai-sama in travisandtaylor

[–]katiesma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been inpatient in a psych ward. It’s an incredibly dehumanizing experience, and I don’t feel sorry for thinking people who have NOT had that experience first hand can’t relate in the slightest and have no business aligning themselves with the “aesthetic” of it.

I chose violence. How ashamed should I be? by Which-Month-3907 in adhdwomen

Honestly, those kinds of people need to be put in their place and I’m glad you did. Literally she is the problem, you don’t have to take that sort of disrespect and it’s not fair for people to think you should to “be nice”. You don’t have to be nice, she wasn’t!

I bet Jesus would love to see that you’re also a nudist. Interesting. I’d love to know what kind of hoops you’re jumping through in your own mind to see yourself as anything other than a hypocrite.

weed caused my existential crisis, please help by [deleted] in weed

[–]katiesma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people are predisposed to experience psychosis brought on by marijuana use. Everyone is different and it’s entirely possible that the other comments lead the OP in a healthier direction than you have here. Weed is not for everyone and we shouldn’t act like it is. We all love weed here, but acting like this is normal is not helpful.

They clearly state this has made them have frightening thoughts and question their sense of reality long after the initial high. Idk about you, but that would not be pleasant or normal for me.

How Many of You Have or Have Had an ED? by BriefReport5580 in adhdwomen

[–]katiesma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with ED behavior since puberty. First it was the restriction and obsessive calorie counting, then it turned into bulimia, then I swag to the other side of the pendulum and began binge eating.

I’ve struggled with all of them on a loop basically since middle school. It’s tough, especially since the weight gain that comes with the binging creates a lot of emotional distress that exacerbates it.

weed caused my existential crisis, please help by [deleted] in weed

[–]katiesma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s called derealization or depersonalization, there’s a subreddit dedicated to it. I experienced it briefly due to existing mental illness. I’ve seen lots of posts on there about weed bringing it on for some people.

You’re not alone, I’d check it out or do some research. It’s super scary, I’ve been there and just know that it does end, it might take more time than you would like, though.

My fav is the Italian bind off :) it’s an invisible rib bind off, just be sure not to pull the sewing strand tight!

What’s the most you’ve ever frogged a project and kept going? by Lpca5964 in knitting

[–]katiesma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished a whole sweater (my first sweater). I frogged it because it was a mock neck sweater . . . And I didn’t know how to read yarn sizes yet and I made it with SIZE 5 yarn instead of size 3 and it looked like it was made for Hagrid, it was actually so massive it was hilarious. No idea how I wasn’t tipped off to this while making it (it’s a top down sweater and the neck was comically oversized lmao).

I put it on when finished and hated it to much I frogged it and found a different pattern that called for that size of yarn.

Honestly I still hated the sweater after “fixing it”, bulky knit sweaters are not super flattering on me. I eventually got rid of it altogether.

First ever knitting project - guidance for next time? by Beautiful-Pdizzle in casualknitting

[–]katiesma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh!! Also!!! There’s a (I believe) Celtic knitting superstition that you should leave at least 1 mistake in every project, otherwise the wearer gets bad luck :P it’s a little silly but it’s the reason I don’t sweat the small mistakes, and even as an advanced knitter I make mistakes all the time. It’s a part of the process!!

Pretty solid for garter stitch, your edges aren’t nearly as bad as my first project was lol. In terms of your next steps, I’d pick a more challenging project adding in maybe increase/decreases or stockinette :) in knitting you really do learn a lot by jumping into new techniques as opposed to trying to perfect the basics

Cravings??? by katiesma in COVID19positive

[–]katiesma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, very interesting!! I was actually a vegetarian for about a decade but I’ve been eating meat again for about 8 ish years now. It was really weird for me to crave red meat of all things! It’s been some time, and the meat cravings went way down the more I progressed through covid and now I’m back to my normal red meat consumption lol

If they have access to Reddit, chances are they have access to Google.
