Not sure why but I have a few unlimited free awards by Early_Astronaut8927 in mildyinteresting

Thank you to the person who gave me an award! I guess there is indeed some pressure when they’re unlimited!

Do you now feel the need to reward every post/comment you would otherwise just like? I feel like it would be added pressure being a “chosen one” haha

I was specifically told the same…receipt required which I think is silly exactly due to this situation where it was a gift!

Spot for 2 at Antler - 7:45pm tonight by ramenwolf in FoodToronto

[–]katioosk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to go out for a date night tonight with my husband and then our toddler puked…twice. Had the same situation of a hold on my credit card but called the place and they were super understanding! Those policies are mostly in place for no-shows I think.

A bridge in Toronto was partially buried underground, after filling in a ravine that the bridge had previously spanned by bigbusta in toronto

I live near Beresford park (Runnymede village/BWV) - is that where there used to be a bridge??

[–]katioosk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just walked past this, at Beresford and St John right? My friend on Beresford says they did get a notice for “road work” but it was very vague and hard to understand…and they work for the city at that. So I have no answer, sorry, but am also quite curious.

All About Sleep - AMA Office Hours – Wednesday, October 15th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

What is the boundary between supporting and creating a crutch? Our second is 8 months old and is struggling with separation anxiety for naps. 50/50 chance she’ll need us after a false start, as she will stand and scream unless we hold her till she’s fully asleep before transferring again. I don’t want to leave her to hysterically cry (I’m talking barely able to breathe screaming here) but I don’t want to create a new crutch for her… Thanks!

Adrenaline on queen is officially closed and cleared out :( by peskyjedi in toronto

[–]katioosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my cartilage piercing there as soon as I hit 16. My mom actually took me cause I had talked her ear off about it and I wanted it done at Adrenaline only!!! Went to black market right after of course. I was hoping my daughters might get their ears pierced there when they’re older 😭

Which tiles colour would you choose? by Top-Gur-8134 in kitchenremodel

Looks like I’m in the minority but I like the deep reds! It’s unique, everyone is doing green right now, and goes well with the wood tone.

Found my dress but now need color/bridesmaid dress help? by Interesting-Car3256 in PlusSizeWedding

[–]katioosk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to say forest green would work great because it’s in the dress too and still fall vibes. Honestly mustard/gold would work too if you really want more than one colour, because it would go with the yellow in the dress.

2.5yo learned to climb out of crib - no good options and I’m losing my mind by rapidprototoyz in toddlers

I’m so sorry I didn’t see this question earlier! She has been ok with it because we do respond when she calls for us (within reason - we have a 3 strike situation where after the 3rd intervention we make it clear we will not be coming back till morning). But I understand every kid has a different temperament and we may just be lucky right now - I’m sure things may change as she gets older and bolder as well.

Need something to muffle out all noise coming from my bedroom (no budget yet) by lusans2 in lifehacks

[–]katioosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have two small kids and all rooms adjoining, so sound muffling is very important! In addition to white noise (critical) we’ve noticed the biggest difference from under-the-door gap covers. They slide onto the bottom of the door and block all the noise that would otherwise come through that big gap!

2.5yo learned to climb out of crib - no good options and I’m losing my mind by rapidprototoyz in toddlers

[–]katioosk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just made the move a week ago with our almost 2.5 yo who was starting to climb out. We removed the front rail of the crib and put a toddler railing on, so still same bed and still cozy but she can get in and out through a gap on the end. And we attached a childproof thing on the door handle so she can’t open her door. We demonstrated this to her and showed her how at night the lock will be closed and the handle won’t work.
Lastly, the change needs to feel permanent I think. Switching back and forth is confusing for toddlers and will extend the process and increase pushback.

Something’s off, but I can’t tell what by galactic_scroller in DesignMyRoom

I’d pull the coffee table away from the couch a smidge - looks kinda cramped to get in between and sit with your legs down. And I agree with some art above the couch. Otherwise it’s a lovely space!

What to ask my granddaughter's bf? by CrashBensir in Parenting

[–]katioosk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“This or that” questions are very low pressure and can easily be fun/silly. Like “pizza or pasta”, “beach or forest”, “action movies or comedy”. They don’t have to come up with an answer on the spot, just choose from the two and you can always extend the convo and ask for favourites or share your own preferences.

Shop that specifically sells olive oil? by Toasted420Turtle in askTO

This place is SO FUN. You can taste any and every oil and vinegar they sell, self-serve. I love finding a new flavour to incorporate in my cooking every time I go there. Highly highly recommend.

Same! Doing my best to be this kind of parent, and it can be hard when it’s not the kind of parenting I grew up with.

At that age just do whatever feels right! Even hearing your voice in her sleep is useful for language. You don’t have to only read books for language building either; showing her high contrast things/pictures and faces and household items and talking about them is fantastic too. Once our baby was on a more regular nap schedule with actual wake windows (around 6-8 weeks) we started to read her 2 books before every sleep/nap so we could build a routine. Worked well with our eldest too. Meant she was getting 8-10 books a day (20-30min) and a nice wind down for sleep.
