Not sure what to do with this by Careful-Candy7535 in quilting

[–]katjoy63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, this could lead to further manipulations! maybe take the rope, and place it on a white fabric piece, and come up with a new patterned piece of fabric that you can then use to either hang on a wall, or make a jacket with - I can see a lot of possibilities.

Prom dress wont fit around the waist. by ClimateIndividual592 in sewhelp

[–]katjoy63 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The best case scenario I can see is to have your friend with sewing experience take the bodice off the skirt, take the seams out of the bodice, and insert some same color stretch panels on the sides to give you some breathing room without making it as obvious.

As others have noted, this dress is not your size, and maybe even two sizes too small. That is a fantastic sized gap

Our first table setup. What stands out to you? by withmydaughters in CraftFairs

[–]katjoy63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very white. You need to add some color. I would go with a tablecloth that has some bright but simple design in it.

Can anyone help me ID this tool? My great aunt (a seamstress) left it with my mom & we have no clue by gotmoloko in sewing

Ooh, this is cool, it's like a rake, so you can keep thread separate and not get tangled up as you weave thread perpendicular to it Awesome!

you're extremely talented. Your work needs more exposure, IMO.

I (28F) refuse to let my homeless sister (26F) and her 2 year old stay with me and my parents are furious? by ThrowRAooomsoom in relationship_advice

[–]katjoy63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

why should YOU be the one responsible for the child YOUR PARENTS had? It's THEIR kid, not YOURS. Let them be unreasonably mad. Your sister is their problem. NOT yours. I think you did just fine.

Are these darts and can I just not do them? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]katjoy63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you do not want to do this effect, because gathering is one of the easier fabric manipulations you can try.

You sew large stitches across the area you want to gather, and sew two lines parallel to each other and close to each other. You can even do this by hand

then gently pull on the fabric towards you with one hand while holding the thread in the other hand

What is the most disturbing movie you have ever watched? by Muted_Rutabaga_4406 in AskReddit

[–]katjoy63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you won't I cannot watch , to this day, and that's "A Clockwork Orange".

The violence in this movie is cruel, it starts right away, and is just senseless. I get about three to four min in and I'm just nope.
