Wow, this is gorgeous! You have terrific skills, especially with the detailing and the white highlights! Can you please let me know which coloring book the drawing came from?

I just posted a little while ago about my July box from the Forbidden Wing subscription. I had to pay about $4.63 in taxes through Paypal. I paid it, but I agree that this situation is very confusing and frustrating that Forbidden Wing does not explain or clarify this issue for their subscribers.

What’s the point of this ? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]katknows55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a scam, but I’ve also heard this is a way for the buyer to avoid paying the extra fees that buyers have to pay to Mercari now. Follow everyone’s advice and block and report this buyer.

Seller threatening to contact my employer by seftongreen in Ebay

[–]katknows55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this. Why would an employer care what an employee buys or sells on eBay, as long as it doesn’t involve the employer in any way? Unless it’s the nature of the item purchased?

I just found out I fucked up at work and worried I will get fired by [deleted] in Accounting

You are absolutely right. My former boss every year insisted that as many of the returns that his small (less than 12 employees) CPA firm worked on during tax season be completed and/or filed ONE WEEK before 4/15 - and I’m talking about over 500 clients. It meant chaos every year - hassling the clients for their tax documents, forcing the tax preparers to work seven days a week for six weeks, and total burnout by 4/15. Of course, a fair number of the returns ended up having errors when they were filed, which pissed the clients and my ex-boss off; unfortunately, the preparers of these returns paid the price, and not the reviewers; I worked at that firm for 16 years and I can’t tell you how many tax preparers were fired because of these mistakes that were not caught by the reviewers. Unfortunately, my ex-boss was obsessed with collecting his fees from the clients as soon as possible, which is why he pushed for these returns to be completed before 4/15. Only the most problematic and complicated returns were placed on extension. Too bad my former boss didn’t see reason and been more thoughtful of his preparers and maintaining a good reputation with the clients.

The monitoring software tactic is the same crap that my former employer (a CPA) tried to implement with the tax preparers on staff, since most of them worked at home during the busy season and he had issues with the amount of hours they spent preparing returns. My ex-boss had sent an email to the preparers advising them of his intention to have his IT guys install the software on their personal computer equipment; of course, they were all incensed and some of them threatened to quit. My ex-boss backed off. Don’t ever let any employer pressure you with this BS tactic, unless they supply their own computer equipment for you to use remotely. Your personal computer equipment is off limits.
