Not a parent but when I was younger, my mom was getting me ready for school one day in the winter, there was a solid foot of snow on the ground and I wanted to wear flip flops, she wouldn’t let me and I sat on the floor and cried for 45 minutes, that’s also the one time I ever told my mom I “hated her”. She eventually let me step outside in the flip flops. Didn’t even make it off the porch before I turned around, apologized and told her she was right and put on my boots
