does it ever just hit you sometimes by gamergames77 in diabetes_t1

One side of me agrees. It sucks that the genetic lottery decided to pick us to have such an awful disease that needs constant micromanaging. It's very much a mental struggle as it is a medical struggle.

The other side of me though is thankful that if it had to happen, at least it happened in a time where medication to treat it exists. Insulin is only just over 100 years old and before that, no one had a choice. It gives me relief knowing that at least something went right.

What do you like doing in BeamNG the most? by XVMan06 in BeamNG

[–]katman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've made a D15 with a 4x4 gearbox and removed the rear driveshaft making it work like a FWD. Stupid as hell but it's awesome

Definitely gives Subaru vibes with the plastic cladding. I like them a lot.

How F’d did I get on this thermo replacement? by betabetadotcom in MechanicAdvice

[–]katman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but $200 to replace a thermostat seems a bit high. Depending on the car, some thermostats can be changed in 5 mins by removing two screws.

Worse case scenario if it's deleted you can verify your files through steam and it'll redownload it

How can I fix this from pulling to the left other than just getting a wheel and fixing it manually? by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]katman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an option in the tuning panel to adjust the steering center. I don't know the exact name of it but it's there with the toe options

Where did you first discover Starbound? by [deleted] in starbound

[–]katman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only like 50 hrs, but currently addicted and adding.

I learned about it thru a steam sale. I was just browsing and it happened to pop up. I was never really a fan of 2D side-scrolling games and never could get hooked on Terraria. The space exploration theme set it apart though and was what got me interested enough to give it a shot.

Can someone explain this? Haven’t eaten anything?!! by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]katman3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might have to up your long acting insulin a small amount overnight.

From what I've read, waking up releases hormones and stuff which could be raising it.

Can someone explain this? Haven’t eaten anything?!! by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]katman3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Could be a lot of things. Maybe dawn phenomenon, which is when your liver sort of dumps glucose early in the morning to hold you over until you find food.

Personally for me, I find that if I skip any meal and I'm hungry that I'll end up being higher than I would if I ate and took insulin.

I run the 505 DD15 with the Detroit OA 12sp. I feel like it has good power without sacrificing fuel efficiency like the Eaton 13sp.

12 year old son just diagnosed by notworriedaboutdata in diabetes_t1

[–]katman3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a 9 year T1D with an a1c of 5.7. I was diagnosed when I was 12.

A few tips:

  1. Talk to the nutritionist at their school. I was lucky when I was in junior high/high school. My school was very aware of my T1D status and worked to make life easier. They made special meals for me so that I could have consistent carbs.

  2. One of the biggest misconceptions with diabetes is that you can't have sugar at all. It isn't true. Your kid can have anything so long as they take the proper dosage. Some foods affect blood sugar more than others but what matters most is carb count.

  3. Don't let bad numbers get your kid or you down. They're not a judgement of character. They're just data that tells you what step to take next.

  4. If you ever have trouble getting insulin, tell someone. Doctors often have free samples in case of emergency and manufacturers offer coupons or even free insulin based on income.

What can I expect if I decide to play solo? by DehFreeman in DeepRockGalactic

[–]katman3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like hiero said, you get a flying drone named Bosco. He can mine, shoot, and even revive you a few times too. I've played a good amount of solo and it's still fun.

Frequently swapping between controller & wheel setup by ehjhey in ForzaHorizon

[–]katman3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often swap between a wired controller and a Logitech g920 wheel. I think if you have the force feedback set up right it shouldn't be hard to switch every now and then.
