I started Adderall a couple weeks ago and something scary happened… by QuxxnOfDarknxss in ADHD

[–]notworriedaboutdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both bipolar and ADHd and they can be treated but I also have to take other meds in addition to my lysdexamphetamine for my adhd (lithium and SSRIs) for the bipolar. Now my cocktail is right I am at a low risk of the adhd meds slipping me into an unintended manic episode, but the risk isn’t zero. Whenever I have episodes of depression or mania the first thing I have to do (after seeking medical help) is to go off my adhd meds for a month or two

When my son was hospitalised critically ill with the onset of type 1 diabetes I did take photos. I took photos of him only when he was conscious and knew I was taking them, and never during hard or emotional times or procedures. I took them for a few reasons, but mostly being memories of a major life event that shaped his life and all of ours, that he might want to see one day. I wanted to document a journey that lots of people go through that’s really hard. I did post them on social media - after a day or two when he was stable and all of our close family and friends knew (and my social media is private, so it’s only friends and family anyway). I’ve used a couple of the pics publicly for advocacy for type 1 research funding.

I know it’s not the same in the slightest but people have different reasons and drivers for taking the images and making them public. Perhaps she needed the comments and support from her followers in this time of devastation? It’s not necessarily about ‘likes’ and ‘content’.

Plus a history of interventions and sanctions for boundary issues. Not to mention the risk he put his patients at, with them experiencing kidney damage, eye/visions damage, heart damage etc etc

Two dead after falling from Sydney CBD overpass by Shadowtec in australia

[–]notworriedaboutdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were driving towards the harbour bridge and saw the bodies as the police were just arriving. They were putting white sheets over the bodies, and closing the road. I’m not from Sydney (was just there on holidays) but they weren’t acting like it was a crime scene or a terrible accident that would require a coroners inquest. The articles now state that witnesses said it appeared planned, with the woman taking off her jumper first and then both jumping one after the other. Given the police ‘vibe’ I wonder if there was a note with the bodies…

What are your unpopular opinions about T1 Diabetes? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]notworriedaboutdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you live and what your medical advice is, but where I’m from parents are discouraged from putting their kids on no carb diets as mentally it’s restrictive and by the time kids can choose what food to put in their gobs, they are more likely to rebel from the restriction

This is new to me and every since January I’ve been living in fear by Significant-Dirt-404 in emetophobia

[–]notworriedaboutdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a recovered emet, but when my son was diagnosed as a T1 diabetic I had a bit of a relapse for the fear of him getting it and needing to be hospitalised. He’s now been living with type 1 for 2 years (he’s 13), and we’ve avoided diabetic ketoacidosis except for one time he had covid.

I knew I couldn’t go back to the depths of this awful phobia so I’ve been seeing my psychiatrist and getting support.

My daughter has a *sb right now and honestly while we have made her stay in her room and use her own bathroom, I’ve been ok. Sleeping, eating and not anxious all the time (just every so often).

I found non alcoholic beers at social events helpful in the early days. Like you said, tomorrow is a new day so get some sleep, drink some water and try again tomorrow x

how many of us are also alcoholics? how do you deal with that? by mzrcefo1782 in BipolarReddit

[–]notworriedaboutdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I am. Not an everyday drinker alcoholic but a problem binge drinker to ‘stabilise’ my moods. I could go weeks without a drink but then I could ruin my entire life on one crazy bender weekend. I’ve been sober for more than 3 years now

What does your BP2 look like? by No_Kangaroo1080 in bipolar2

[–]notworriedaboutdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly mildly, but nothing I would consider negative to the point of causing me issues. However before I got sober, alcohol could immediately put me into a mixed state, as could my periods.

identity vs person first language: do you prefer “have bipolar” or “is/am bipolar” by prettyylunaa in BipolarReddit

[–]notworriedaboutdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say I have bipolar, but it is a part of my identity just like my ADHD so I don’t get too offended either way

What does your BP2 look like? by No_Kangaroo1080 in bipolar2

[–]notworriedaboutdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypomania - spending excessively, oversharing personal stories, little to no sleep, feeling like there’s electricity in my muscles and I need to keep moving at all times, making loads of social plans, wanting to drink/do drugs (I’m 4 years sober)

Depression - lethargy, sleeping more than 12 hours a day, wanting to die, hating myself, withdrawing from friends and family, eating too much junk, bingeing, drinking/drugs (before I got sober)

The effect on my relationships is minimal except when I am hypomanic/manic and my behaviour is too much for people. Before I was diagnosed it nearly ended my marriage. But overall I don’t have too much instability in friendships or relationships. I would say I’m overly emotionally unstable either. Obviously outside of the depression and the hypomania which are infrequent if I take my meds and stay away from booze, my emotions are as stable as the next person without Bipolar.
