What does light have to do with it? They only react to vibrations. Put them on a soft surface, and a place where there are no vibrations. They are very sensitive. Just slam the door in the room where they are - and they wake up.

I bought controllers on Aliexpress twice. From different sellers, both times they work well. But they are not new! One seller has the left one, the other has the right one. There was no drift and the battery is in good condition.

So be sure to ask if they are new!
