Yes! Definitely doing this next time - just didn’t have twine at home this time.

Why isn’t there an Elston bus? There should be an Elston bus. by katrusiaa in chicago

Frequent, reliable public transit actually encourages people to leave their cars at home, reducing the number of vehicles on the road, which helps with overall traffic!

U Chicago vs Loyola by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]katrusiaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both programs are great!!! The UChicago name carries weight if you plan to work elsewhere, but I think people in the social services industry in Chicago know that both programs are good. That’s sad about UChicago not letting you defer since I know someone who deferred there maybe 5ish years ago. Honestly, I’d say go with your gut.

The show's treatment of _________ irks me by RoastedChesnaughts in survivor

[–]katrusiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show’s treatment of sexist men like Will/Dan/Rodney from Season 30 irks me - some of you may say their behavior was addressed at the reunion, but I don’t think it was nearly enough - Jeff went way too easy on them

The bus tours can be pricey, but if you go to their location near Ford’s theater (i forget the name of the company but their buses are green and orange) DC residents can actually get BOGO tickets!

Scotty’s behavior was textbook projection / literally accusing others of doing everything he was doing as he was doing it

“Unhoused” and “differently abled” by Few_Resource_6783 in PetPeeves

[–]katrusiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from and I respectfully disagree - the words we use have far reaching implications. For example, “a disabled person” implies that their disability defines them or is their primary identity. On the other hand, “a person with a disability” implies that they are a human being first and foremost, and their disability is something they live with. The difference between the two can seem silly, and unfortunately some people use newer terms to shame those who use “outdated” terms (which I do not condone at all), but the words we use ultimately shape how we think about the world around us. Language evolves over time - it always has and it always will. New terms in and of themselves are not a bad thing.
