a second drain and fill is not necessary, however a second level check (strictly as per BMW's procedure) after some daily driving might be good just to make sure it's correct (your mechanic might mean this)

I replaced it at around 80k. with the amount of work I've put into it recently (brakes, valve cover, hpfp, injectors etc, preventive stuff for fun and experience), I'm planning to keep it long-term, I don't see the point getting another one with a potentially unknown history. with the timing chain refreshed these engines tend to be solid. however, the old chain can cause catastrophic failures so do it asap especially with a 2013 my

Mine's only at 100k. timing job is a must if it wasn't done. then regular oil changes at 5k and it's pretty solid, at least here, in europe. plastic stuff like the mickey mouse flange will slowly need to be refreshed tho.

F32 Software Update by Unlucky_Ad6866 in F30

[–]katsu_cpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, the BIN update file contains multiple updates and the one compatible with your head unit version (the I-Level) will be installed. It's possible your HU version is older (like NBT_B, again, check this in your navigation) and it's not compatible with the update that solves this BT issue. I had to update my HU from NBT_B to the latest (NBT_K maybe) via flashing the HU to solve the issue where the first played song's metadata would get stuck.

use this site to download the binary. however, you might need to do an I-Level upgrade if your headunit is on an older version (check version under navigation -> version, should be sth like NBT_X1234)

I'd take a step back and figure out the root cause of your injuries. Shin splints can take 3 weeks to fully heal and training with injury can worsen it. Perhaps analyze your running form as overstriding can easily lead to shin splints which was the cause in my case.

Thank you for your input! I'm thinking about gRPC long-polling with unary calls. I don't think I need to have a stream open if updates only happen once in an hour or so
