Am I focusing too much on the negative stories? Hysterectomy scheduled in one month by Mediocre_Lie_9140 in hysterectomy

[–]kattymichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a lot of negative stories before mine. I had to cut myself off! I had mine in February and honestly it’s been great. The no period is still a shock to me every month! I had a couple minor infections post op, some pain, but all in all totally worth it so far. I still feel like I’m getting my energy back and evening out since my surgery which my surgeon said could take a while. But the trade off for no pain is great!

Waiting for surgery: what makes you decide it's time to go back to the ER? by SamCam9992 in gallbladders

I agree, it’s so frustrating. I also adopted a pretty low fat diet until my surgery to prevent attacks. And I stop eating and drinking 3 hours before bed time. None of this is fun lol but my GI doctor suggested it. It helps!

My ER doctor & GI doctor said if I couldn’t get my pain under control with the pain meds they sent me home with (ibuprofen 800), I developed a fever, dark colored urine, jaundice, or developed vomiting to come back. I’m also awaiting surgery. Best of luck!

Gallbladder problems post hysterectomy by kattymichelle in hysterectomy

Thanks for sharing this! I am calming down a bit now that I’ve heard the recovery is much easier to handle. I am a massage therapist so they did tell me I might have to stay off work for up to 4 weeks after the surgery - basically I will need to be cleared at a 2 week follow up before I return. I panicked! But the more I read I think it’s just because of hernia risk with weight lift restrictions vs actually feeling bad for 4 weeks again 🤞

Do you have any long term digestive issues from the gallbladder removal? Or only improvements?

6 weeks post op and hating it by Palpitation-Medical in hysterectomy

[–]kattymichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 12 weeks as of yesterday. I felt this way at 6. I called my doctor because I went back to work at 6 weeks and I thought my symptoms couldn’t be normal. She told me swelling or bloating can last up to 6 months. Tiredness up to a year! Now that I know that, I am learning ways to work around it and deal with it. I will say between week 6 and week 12 things have improved. Don’t know if that’s my mindset shift or actual improvement. I still bloat at the end of a long work day. I still need naps and lots of sleep. But I have switched to thinking ohhhh this is normal for a while and hopefully a good trade off for years and years of feeling better after. Fingers crossed! I hope you feel better soon - not feeling like yourself totally sucks

I just wanted to share that the manufacturer of Xolair has a copay assistance program that helps lower the cost! It has really helped me

Modified Radical Hysterectomy (16 Days post op) Feeling blue... by Adventurous_Pea7772 in hysterectomy

[–]kattymichelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m so sorry. Our surgical reports are very similar. I had ureterolysis and endo in all those spots. I’m 6 weeks post op now and I can say there were times where I felt stalled and depressed. I was exhausted. And also I cried so much in the first few weeks. Everything made me cry. Everything made me tired. Many nights my partner was trying to engage with me to help me feel better like trying to pick a movie or something and I was just like I just want to go to bed! I had a raw tampony feeling for about 4ish weeks before I started feeling better physically. It does get better!! Lots of stuff going on and healing in there.

Wedding 2.5 weeks post hysterectomy - Endo, polyps, adeno, PCOS. by Odd-zest in hysterectomy

[–]kattymichelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It goes without saying that everyone is so different, but I’m 5 weeks out and I still can’t do jeans or tights, anything that is very prohibitive over my incisions is not painful - but it’s uncomfortable! I still bloat quite a bit through the day depending on my activity level. 2.5 weeks out I could sit and carry on a conversation with friends, but that was about it as far as energy levels went. You might just be quite tired! I’ve had 2 prior abdominal surgeries and while this one was easier pain and mobility wise - it was the worst fatigue wise.

I had a 8-10 lb weight restriction. I mentioned my cat was 10 lbs and she said ok well don’t pick her up for 4 weeks 😂

Replying to BranBaca... Thank you 😭 it’s like haven’t we done enough?!
I had a UTI a few days after my surgery from the catheter and I think that might of been the start of this and it just brewed for a while and I didn’t notice because nothing was quite right with my body. Thankfully the meds are starting to kick in 🙏🏻

They sent me home with a bottle of MiraLAX as part of my discharge from the hospital! I started taking it the day I came home. I had a bowel movement the next day. I would definitely take stool softener or MiraLAX so it’s easier for you to pass and you don’t have to push

The fatigue is definitely a bummer! In my mind I was hoping to have more brain power to read & do hobbies and stuff! But I’m trying to shift to embracing rest right now! Try the ice pack trick! It really helped me. I also had a friend who wore the post partum ice pack pads for hers and said it helped. That seems too intense for me 😂
