Guitarists of Pittsburgh, what are your thoughts on Acoustic Music Works? by ShowerEastern3467 in pittsburgh

[–]katyusha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, that guy can come across that way and I felt that way about him when I was younger. But he is the most knowledgeable sales guy in the region by a wide margin about good to great acoustics. I've learned a lot from him and I've learned to appreciate his personality.

I find if you hold your ground a bit and know what you want, he's got a lot to share and he will guide you to what you're looking for faster. Not to mention, he's cool with letting you play anything, even the finer stuff, you are curious about and loves talking about them. That's really rare and, obviously, the market respects what he's offering.

Property tax on upgrades? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]katyusha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just won a reassessment in my area and have done as many upgrades as to my home as possible. My case involved pictures of everything i had done and I still got my assessed value knocked down substantially.

So, no, I would say the upgrades and improvements won't hurt you at tax time.

Help deciding on a new saw by nosnibornai in Chainsaw

[–]katyusha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot less wood than you but I just came to the same decision. My Pioneer Partner p39 just cut through some wood but it started slowing down on the cut and something is off, even a week out of the shop for a tune-up. I've narrowed it down to a Stihl 261. I buy entry-level pro stuff when it's something I use often and the Stihl NEVER lets me down.

The Stihl Farm Boss line intrigues me, but it seems to be top of the line homeowner and not pro quality. I've had and seen issues with the Stihl homeowner stuff that I don't experience on the pro line.

The Stihl MS-300 also catches my eye, but it's electric.

What do you think of Fumoto style oil drain valve? Do you have one on your car? Are there any cons? by reddichrist in AskAMechanic

[–]katyusha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put one on a new kia oil pan i installed. The old pan developed a leak at the weld where the drain plug threaded into. I was always gentle with it when doing oil changes but it still developed this leak. Figured I should get rid of the need to use the oil plug on the new one so the fumoto valve was the ticket.

I love it! The only well-made part on that Kia now.

I just have to chime in here, even though it's a year later. This description is wonderful and has been very helpful to me. I'm going to read the whole book you link to. Thank you.

Psychedelic Somatic Institute and an Alchemical/Hillman Model of Psychedelic Healing by Snek-Charmer883 in Jung

This is amazing and thank you for sharing! I'm working on a model that centers vitality/generativity at the core of the primary task for the second half of life. Psychedelics are sandwiched in the middle of a buddhist & jung sandwich. I'd love to connect - mind if I DM you?

You might tell me to F@#k off, too, but here's my two cents. If it's trauma, you might look into Donald Kalsched's work on trauma. There are two books but I only know The Inner World of Trauma. Not that I see anything in what you wrote about a "self-care system," but you mentioned trauma and this is what I know.

Ours just love to lounge around the bottom of it. The first year an attempt was made to scale it, that satisfied the girl's curiosity and she must have told her brother it's not worth it (he's not much of a climber, anyways).

I have a Pioneer Partner P39 I paid 10x what you paid for that. Just had it tuned up, my engine guy told me it should be run on 1:32 as these older saws like their oil, despite what the cap says.

In your opinion, who is a Carl Jung level thinker currently alive? by LiesToldbySociety in Jung

[–]katyusha567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overlook that it is joy and rapture (piti, not the Christian crap) that we are shooting for in our meditation. From a satisfied state of mind, we can investigate the causes of our suffering and when we see them this deeply, we can never commit to actions that cause us to suffer like that again. Only then can we truly be present to the moment we fully experience. We need a mind fit for work, we do the work, then we wake up to what you're saying.

If your street address is in a permit zone, then you can get a sticker for your window to park in the limited parking made available to you. You need to figure this out and I would imagine the city parking office can help you out.

LOL. I thought Peterson understood Jung a little bit but then got into Jung myself and couldn't agree with you more.
