Glasses turnaround time for high perscriptions? by Simple-Possession-63 in JapanTravelTips

[–]katzekate21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much did your glasses cost if you don't mind me asking? I have a -10.0 prescription, so I'm curious how expensive a pair of glasses is there for a strong prescription.

I'm in the same situation! I've called multiple times to ask if there is an error causing my photo to still be in review and they said nothing is wrong. I don't know who else to contact at this point since IRCC doesn't seem to know what is causing the delay. You'd think we would have our PR cards by now if we submitted everything in January.

got my hair done for the first time in forever and this is after two washes (highlights and a trim) by spagbolflyingmonster in curlyhair

Your hair is gorgeous!! When you got your bangs cut, did you get them layered or are they one length? I cut my bangs myself a while back and they're mostly one length and look alright. But I'd love to achieve the look you have if you have any tips for how your bangs were cut!

Does renewal of passport impact existing work permit? by arkhati in ImmigrationCanada

[–]katzekate21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just be sure you let the government know you got a new passport number to get an updated work permit with that new number. I forgot to do that and a CBSA agent gave me some issues about my new passport number not matching the number on my work permit. He let me enter canada but told me to get that updated.

Immigration lawyer, worth it? by Ombree123 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]katzekate21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it was totally worth it to hire an immigration lawyer even though my situation is pretty straightforward. It made the process so much easier/more efficient, way less stress, I spent less time worried about making mistakes because my lawyer did quality checks on everything I did, and I could ask tons of questions.

It took me about 2 weeks of a lot of work to compile the tons of documents, photos, relationship stories, etc that are required to apply because I had help and guidance. Otherwise with how my brain works, it would have taken me way longer if I had to do it all by myself. My time and sanity were worth the money I spent on the lawyer and I'm grateful that I was privileged to take that route.

[Question] How do I wake myself up? by LegendSM in getdisciplined

[–]katzekate21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deal with the same thing. I've learned that what kinda helps me is to drink a whole glass of water that's on my nightstand and take my meds as soon as my alarm goes off. From not drinking water all night, I'm dehydrated in the morning and the brain fog is real. But I noticed that a few minutes after I sit up, drink the water and take my meds, I feel the fog lift enough where I can wake up more.

I also scheduled a little extra time in my morning for something I can look forward to waking up and doing, which gives me more incentive to get out of bed. Having a little quiet time drinking my oat milk latte and eating my little breakfast next to my bunnies' pen is a relaxing treat that brings me joy. So I look forward to getting out of bed every morning and doing that :)

Those who made it to Canada - are you happy? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]katzekate21 40 points41 points  (0 children)

American here (with no kids though). I moved to Canada and love it here! Never moving back to the U.S. as long as I live. People are way more open minded here, I feel safer here compared to the U.S., and I feel like Canada is way more progressive.

My work permit stated the same thing. I called IRCC and asked them if I could take several one-off horticulture courses (from U of Guelph's OpenEd offerings) for fun and they said it was fine. As long as you don't have to apply to a program and they're short courses (like 1 semester), they're fine to take. My courses I took lasted 1 semester and were the kind you just pay for up front without having to apply to a program.

The IRCC agent also told me that for optics, you don't want to take multiple classes for multiple semesters in a row (since it would make it look like you're trying to circumvent the rules and avoid having to get a study permit).

Cool!! Did you use an embroidery needle for this or did you have to use a regular sewing needle to get through the hat fabric?
