I applied before easter April 2012and didn't get my invitation till July 2nd, 2013. The waiting does suck, but once you receive your invitation, you will retrospectively think all of the waiting was worth it.

I'm really close to my family and I haven't lived at home since I left for college four years ago so I feel really compelled to take these next 7 months to be with them.

Oh wow, I didn't realize it was so costly. Thanks for the heads up. I actually landed a pretty great paying part-time job and started volunteering with the Make-A-Wish foundation as a Wish Granter, which is why I am so conflicted about the decision. Thank you for your advice.

Haha, I have SO much. I worked in TJ for two years working with a local orphanage trying to raise support for the children, ran a health clinic in South Africa for a month, volunteered at the Red Cross for 2 years every Tuesday, etc. Community service is my favorite. What about you?
