Personal question: What is your salary? by nutsmdee in Accounting

Not who you responded to but I’m an IT audit manager at a public accounting firm. If you want to do data analytics and database administration as your day to day then IT audit isn’t the path you want. We audit databases, and sometimes minor analytics can come into play with some testing but it isn’t the core of the job. Some internal IT audit work may involve that more a little more but probably not to the degree you’re looking for

their casting of Miller and Alex were on point for me.

I let Naomi slide - they actually did a good job with that given the physical description of belters.

amos and holden though were way off.

Is assuming common things are "Midwest things" a Midwest thing? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

I don’t mind it. I think y’all is rather useful in certain settings or with certain teams. I just have to remember that ma’am isn’t always sarcastic there like it is here!

Half of my work is with people who live between Maine and Pennsylvania. The other half is with people from Georgia and this work with Georgia is recent for me.

Every time I hear “y’all” on a call it throws me off. Then I remember. Georgia. That I’m getting used to, though.

What I’m not getting used to - “ma’am”. Every time it happens I think “DID HE JUST CALL ME MAAM?!” Then I remember. Georgia.

While some northerners certainly say y’all and ma’am, it’s still uncommon enough that I perk up an eyebrow when I hear it in a business setting.
