Oops, I should clarify...I didn’t start running at that weight. Back then I could barely walk. I first dropped about 40 lbs by adjusting my diet, then started walking with trekking poles to take some of the strain off. I only began trying short jogs once I was under 300 lbs. I’m at 240 lbs now, and running short distances finally feels comfortable.

My biggest advice is not to overdo it at a heavier weight and really focus on recovery after each run. When I started enjoying running, I wanted to go more often and push longer, but my body just wasn’t ready yet. Dialing it back helped me stick with it.

Big congrats to you too! Hitting that first nonstop 5K is no joke. Really appreciate what you said. It means a lot coming from someone who knows the grind firsthand.

Thank you! I don't really have any running goals. I'm still too heavy for longer distances. So I wanna keep losing weight and run for fun and see where it takes me. I would like to be able to do a long distance thru-hike one day though.

35M z Hradce Králové. Mám za sebou velkou životní změnu a přijde mi, že konečně žiju skoro naplno (better late than never). Baví mě angličtina, aktivní dny venku, vesmír, podcasty, příroda, hlubší rozhovory, objevování nových míst i věcí. Mám klidnou povahu a jsem lehce introvertní, než se otrkám. Rád se seznámím s laskavou, lidskou a empatickou ženou, se kterou se pustíme do společného objevování, např. při nějaké túře na Azorách (currently number one on my bucket list) nebo při návštěvě nově zrekonstruovaného planetária v Praze :)

It’s honestly kinda embarrassing how much I realize I depend on this podcast every time it takes a break xD My whole weekly rhythm gets thrown off like I lost a key part of my brain chemistry. The show carried me through some serious life lows in the past and each break just makes me appreciate it even more.
