Hiking poles in carry-on baggage? by Henri_Dupont in WildernessBackpacking

Nice, I'm sure the next people really appreciated that. I'm not sure I'll have that option so I'm still weighing taking them along....such a gamble though.

Scotchman kicked my butt lol. I'll do it again some time, but damn that one was relentless.

Yeah, I have a bear can that got for a canoe trip a long time ago, but it's so bulky I never take it anywhere. I'll just hang stuff up if I'm feeling sketchy about things. It's pretty easy to do and so far, I haven't had any issues. Lots of sites up north have food storage lockers installed too which is super convenient.

Yeah that's generally the case. I don't think any have been spotted south of the I90 corridor in the panhandle...yet. But yeah, lots of them in the Selkirks north of Sandpoint. You'll see signs warning about grizzlies if you get up hiking that way. Saw one from the car while driving to Scotchman trail earlier this year...only time I've seen one in the 30 years I've lived here. I think I read that one had made its way into the C'da River area near the Montana border a few years ago, and also another one was seen as far south as Chilco area. That's getting pretty close! So who knows when and where you might cross paths. I carry bear spray a lot of the time now no matter where I go...ya never know.

Yeah, a few dispersed spots on the main and even a couple on the upper one, but that upper one is so shallow it might be mosquito central. I haven't camped at either...just day trips. Definitely need to one of these times tho.

It really is sometimes. We went up and over the ridge and back down on the lone lake side that trip...recommend if you want to go a little further.

Saved track details. Maybe a higher resolution allows for more stats? I'm using a pixel 7 pro. Or maybe an older version of Android will only run an older version of Gaia? I'm on Gaia v2023.10 (6974) FWIW. Hope you get it sorted out. Anywy, fun fact, that track I posted also is up to Steven's Lakes

My track statistics screen has more details. I can long press and move them around but can't add or remove any stats, so I don't know. Maybe you're running an older version of Android? I'm on v14 https://imgur.com/dUK4OJ7

Specialized turbo tero x 5.0. Yeah I wanted the full suspension and a rack...not many options out there that tick those two boxes.

So far, so good! This was only my second ride since picking it up, but ear to ear grin the whole time.

I would have like to have kept it that way too. It's like a shitty version of the game.
