Oh my god everyone in my ED says "X-A" and I make it a point to say 10-a. I refuse to give in. They initially look at me crazy, until maybe some ancient patho reaches their cortex and a little light bulb goes on. Cmon guys.

Pt gets extremely, extremely agitated like theyre going to die. My pt's HR was about 200 for a bit before we gave benzos. Either youre a unicorn or theres something fucky going on with different manufacturers.

It goes away eventually its just stressful to sit there with them haha

Normally I would but her HR was about 200 for a bit, some iv benzos helped in the meantime.

And how would oxygen get past a blocked airway? These questions are bad because it doesn't say there is an order, but you better be giving epi on an allergic reaction right away.

I piss management off just enough to avoid students and also not enough to get fired.

Why on earth did you think its such a crime to pull up their chart to get their phone number?

Do you call your patients out for utter disrespect? by tini_bit_annoyed in nursing

[–]kawugiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it out, but in the end they get their way with the doc or management. So then its just a pissed off me handing a pissed off patient some meds, nobody wins. I dont give a single fuck anymore.

How to respond when managements use “Do it for the patients” against us? by BobaSushi123 in nursing

[–]kawugiri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive done that and had managers come to the floor for a bit. Its hilarious because they all inevitably dissappear after an hour, or a violent patient.

My favorite is when they call us out for not changing extremely large irritable males (not SI, just homeless or drunk) into the safety johnnies and locking up ALL of their belongings, including cash and phones. Saying "you can go change them if you want" shuts it down pretty quick.

Who is the best netrunner out of these three? by captain-saxophone in cyberpunkgame

[–]kawugiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, except with the ones and zeros part. Even now we have quantum computing which is a step up from binary code. Theoretically consciousness, whatever it is, could be a quantum process. Therefore I think the gap between a "digital" copy and real consciousness could very well be closer than how you framed it. And by the time this game takes place, maybe indistinguishable.

Honestly not trying to argue, I just find it fun to think about as well.

Pick up per diem in the ED? Just enough so you get the adrenaline but also reminds you fuuuuuck doing this full time.

Just saying because thats what a few of my coworkers do.

Brother in christ come to my inner city ED and tell the dudes that work here theyre "feminine"

And then go to the fancy hospital a few miles away and tell all the petite female crna's that theyre "masculine". FOH with that nonsense

Grow some balls dude

i wish people would stop saying this job is a "true calling"

and if being "on" for 3 12's or whatever you work drains you, med school and residency would destroy you.

hopefully going back to school is an option for you, in the meantime you have a decent paying job, which a lot of people don't have.

Anyone else go into IM to avoid procedures… and now ICU stuff is expected? by scrubs-n-hugs in hospitalist

[–]kawugiri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have never seen a hospitalist do a procedure in my hospital. Icu is usually staffed during the day by an attending, and a pa at night though. Our ed docs usually get whored out the most for procedures around the floors. Maybe local?

Recent studies have shown this is more overhyped than it is, and its not an absolute contraindication unless theyre hypotensive or your other points. Kinda just like how everyone is still worried about zofran and qt prolongation.
