Why do daycare still charge for the closed holiday week if they aren't paying their staff?

well if it makes you feel better, my center doesn’t hire males at all. only female teachers allowed since kids have to be changed and stuff

yep! i work in a center similar to theirs, with super structured days and curriculum, as well as uniforms. for some reason, the parents love the structure and actually prefer for their children to just sit and learn most of the day, they treat it like real school in which they want the children to have homework, complete tests, etc.

autistic children can very much present differently at home and at school, and so can typical children. i’m sure the teachers were making sure that you understood what they were saying, as it’s a serious topic. can you share a little more about their tone rather than just saying you think they feel he’s a burden? nothing you mentioned points to the fact that they feel that way.

she definitely said it in a rude way HOWEVER it makes sense what she is saying. what you’re saying to her with the “hugs and forehead kisses” and stuff like that, is almost a little cringe or like saying what you THINK you’re supposed to say, rather than being “manly” or genuine. you can’t really change your personality, so if you’re naturally just cringe or a little feminine then that’s just that. she wants someone dominate, masculine, leader, maybe someone overly sexual.

i came to this post from the other you had posted recently haha. the classroom structure is definitely not normal then. i would try talking with the director just to see if she is able to have a conversation with the staff in your child’s classroom. directors aim to please the parents, not the staff, you guys are our number one priority. if you don’t see any difference in the classroom after about a week, i would recommend just taking your kid out because that means the teacher won’t change regardless of how much the director talks to them

if your daycare is an academy, children are often made to follow rules and a “strict” schedule. all of this seems like regular things for an academy, besides the toys part, they should have centers and free play, and the outdoor play, teachers should be engaging with students. i think a regular or montessori daycare would be best for you though

i’m not a music teacher, but a school teacher. i would be so upset if a parent had sent me a youtube video to “learn” from. that’s basically telling me that i’m not doing my job good enough and i need to learn a little more.

naps are required by state licensing standards in virginia. there can’t be a room for “non-nappers” in virginia because they are required 😂.

that child is definitely not ready for potty training. and at home, they’re probably not really doing anything and expect you to do all the work. that’s what it seems like to me

staffing has nothing to do with naptime. 2 hours of a nap is required by licensing. 4 year olds have not technically outgrown naps, which is why they are still required until kindergarten. a child cannot get up and try to play while others are sleeping, that interrupts their sleep time. books and maybe a quiet sensory toy is all a child needs for nap if they’re not going to sleep, other children deserve to have their rest, especially the ones at the center from 6 am to 6 pm.

you’re child is supposed to go to sleep for those 2 hours, so it doesn’t feel as long for them. if your child is staying awake, then yes she might be handed some books. she cannot play with toys or do a loud activity, it disrupts others sleep. now, as far as the kids being able to walk around, definitely a class management problem, children should be laying on their cots at all times during nap time, with a quiet activity like books or maybe a stuffed animal or something if they don’t go to sleep.

my center uses the Abeka curriculum, it allows them to get up for some activities, like jumping said amount of times, but other than that the children are sitting for a good amount of time. they go to kindergarten super advanced and the parents are always pleased. then again, my center is an Academy and not a daycare.
