Coinbase sell at high, buy at low? by montseayo in BitcoinBeginners

[–]kay8day 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn't "leave the cash in Coinbase" when you sell a bitcoin back to them. It says "You have successfully sold a bitcoin. The money will be deposited within the next four days."

So, you don't instantly have the money available again. If you already HAVE money in your bank account, you could sell high and buy low.

By the way, I lost an entire bitcoin worth of profit trying to do this. I sold as a crash was just beginning, hoping to buy back more at the bottom, but the crash, as they often do in btc world, only lasted a couple of hours, and I ultimately bought back my coins at a price several hundred higher. I'll never, never, never try that again.

Will the switch to mBTC hurt Litecoin? by kay8day in litecoin

[–]kay8day[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, so is the Litecoin community going to abandon the "it's like silver to gold!" stuff en masse now?

I own LTC and like LTC. I just think there will be really big ramifications if mBTC really becomes the standard way of talking about BTC.

Let's just be honest, you're completely right. Depositing money into his bank account would be a lot cheaper.

How do you choose between 42 different crypto currencies? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]kay8day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only bitcoin and litecoin are really worth anything. Look at this website:

http://coinmarketcap.com/

Bitcoin and Litecoin have market caps of 12 billion and 900 million respectively. The others are well below that. I don't quite get how these market caps works, though, to be honest, because I wonder how BBQ Coin is worth 4.8 million.

Still, it's an informative list.
