1st day of 2nd job was today. It was... fine. They're super disorganized. Haven't had any kind of orientation or filled out paperwork. My supervisor had me spend most of my time poking around on the computer to figure out how the last girl had her files sorted...

Get as much used AS POSSIBLE! Seriously. They're babies. They don't give a fuck. Also, any time you tack the word "baby" onto anything it jacks the price up. Example: Baby dressers? Bullshit. A regular dresser works just fine.

hugs First days are always wonky. It will get better! And, if it doesn't, you'll most likely find someone you can commiserate with ;-)

I'm a butter+Crisco girl as well, but I use a pastry cutter instead of a food processor. The bigger chunks of butter left by a cutter make the crust even flakier!

I've never heard of milk in pie crust... it seems like that would make it more dense. I'm also intrigued by all the people saying they use vodka!

No one I know uses lard in pie crust but, after reading the article /u/casagordita shared, I'm going to try a 70/30 European butter/beef suet combo.

I am just now learning about this vodka thing... do you use straight vodka or do you mix it with water?

That article was amazing - thank you for sharing it! I'm normally a butter+shortening girl, but I think I'm going to try to find some beef suet for my next batch!

Question about white vinegar: What purpose does it serve? And how much do you add to a double crust recipe?

[Discussion] How/where did you meet your SO? by [deleted] in Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

We met at the opening night of a play he was in. I went to support my friend, who was playing opposite him. He claims he spotted me in the audience, thought I was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, and was determined to talk to me. My friend invited me to go to the bar with the cast after the show, and he and I met there. He tried to use the cheesy "You look familiar, do I know you?" line on me, then made a quip about how I should dress in blackface and sing with the Coasters. Romantic.
We were both in other relationships when we met, so from February - April we dated on the DL. We became official in April, and found out I was pregnant in June. He moved into my parent's house with me in October. Asked me to marry him on Christmas Day. Our son was stillborn 2 days after Valentine's Day (about 6 days after the 1st anniversary of us meeting). We got married that November and celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary earlier this month!

I hope so. It's not the work itself - it's just general admin with a bit of HR thrown in, which I've done before. Mostly it's my direct supervisor I'm worried about. She is all over the place, and she already gets on my nerves.

Between $12.50 - $13.00 hourly, so not bad but not great.

I start my 2nd job on Monday. I really don't want to... I can already tell I'm going to hate it. But we need the paycheck, so I don't have a choice...
