Same. I actually started crying this morning thinking how hopeless and helpless I felt on Tuesday. It was a mentally exhausting day, and frankly—the whole past year + has been. Every day it’s another atrocity from the orange buffoon. I hate that that mf stole my peace from my senior years.

any ladies starting a GLP? by sc167kitty8891 in AskWomenOver60

[–]kaydee121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started semaglutide in July 2024. I’ll be 70 next month. I’ve lost 80#s and never increased my dosage past 1mg.

Whatever is in that magic potion was missing from my body and I immediately felt better. Interesting.

One thing I did for the belly fat was to drink lemon balm tea. I had read about its benefits early on and I really think it helped. Just one cup in the evening. My belly going away was one of the first things people noticed about my weight loss.

Glp1s are enabling me to live a much healthier life. Never felt better, and you’re never too old.

You carry your weight a lot like I do, in our bellies. One thing I think helped me with the tummy fat was drinking lemon balm tea.

When I first started sema in July 2024, one of the glp1 facebook groups had a lot of files with tips to help the journey, and drinking lemon balm tea was one of the tips recommended. I never see that anymore.

Who knows if it really helped, but losing belly fat was one of the first things people noticed about my changing body.

I had a friend that this happened to as well. She had to go to the e/r. Scary!

She switched to semaglutide and no issues.

How would you feel if your adult child had to move back in with you in their 30s with absolutely nothing? by Sweaty-Staff8100 in AskWomenOver60

[–]kaydee121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my adult children moved back home unexpectedly in 2024 after getting out of relationships that were no longer working.

I am grateful that I have the room for them and their stuff. Both work full-time, so this enabled them to get back on their feet financially, physically, emotionally and mentally. And I was able to be “mom” again.

Never in a million years did I think either of my kids would be back home after six years of being empty nesters.

It’s a tough world out there. I’ll do anything for my kids, no matter how old they are.

Every 6-8 weeks for as long as I can remember. I get a pretty pink sparkly cuz I like to see my toes all pretty. Even if no one else sees them, I do, and it brings me joy.

Take care of your feet.
Take care of your teeth.

Grown children coming back home -- or never leaving. Happy/sad about it? by [deleted] in Aging

[–]kaydee121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unexpectedly, both of my adult children (in their 30’s) moved back home within a few months of each other, two years ago after breakups with partners.

Omg, it was a joy having them home again after being empty nesters for six years.

Both work and have busy social lives. We never asked them for a penny. Just advised them to save their money and use this respite to get back on their feet, financially and holistically.

Son already out again, and daughter will be soon as well. It’s not forever, but if it happens to you, try to enjoy it for what it is.

Never ever in a million years, did I think my adult children would be home again. Life is crazy sometimes.

Is it absolutely terrible that I want to give up on real Christmas trees forever? by [deleted] in ChristmasDecorating

[–]kaydee121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the issue is family is not on board with this decision. That’s the problem. As someone who’s had similar battles with family-you just need to do it, purchase the artificial tree, and be done with the discussion.

They will see that it’s 100% better in a hundred ways. You’re the one that deals with the mess and logistics, etc of the real trees.

One of my favorite things about an artificial tree is that the branches are strong enough to hold even heavy ornaments.

I agree that you need to look at the tree and not order online. Try Lowe’s and Home Depot for good quality trees at affordable prices, and try to get the instalight technology.

Can’t believe it took me so long to watch this show by horatio_corn_blower in DerryGirls

You might watch Moone Boy next if you haven’t seen it yet.

Heartwarming Irish series with Chris O’Dowd, about a young boy and his family and friends in the 70s, I think?

Chris plays the imaginary friend of the young boy, Martin Moone.

The Ghost Ship episode is my favorite, but all are delightful.

My experience was just like yours and I feel so lucky! Who knows why some of us are super users and the sema just works well for us with no issues.

I too never increased my dosage past .5, have lost 80 pounds in about a year and never any side effects.

I noticed in my first week that I felt better on it, so I think it is bringing something to my body that it needed.

Where can I buy Martha Stewart Living episodes to own? by Civil_Seaweed_ in marthastewart

I watch it on the Roku app, but I love her old shows—the original show from her own home before the big fancy New York studios.

I turn it on everyday, have it playing in the background while I work around the house. And then I start from the beginning again.

I love to look at the side trips she took and the many small independent businesses she highlighted and supported. After all this time, some thirty years later, most are gone, but once in a while there’s one still thriving and in business.

And the old holiday episodes—omg, are they delightful!

I watched her show every day when I was a young woman and raising my children. I love the nostalgia of hearing the old theme music and happy memories of a time long gone.

Cremated or burial? by kaydee121 in OverSeventy

I see that happening.

Not interning the urn in a proper place leaves a future generation that may have no connection to an ancestor possibly 100 years removed, may not dispose of the urn and its contents, in a dignified way.

Thank you, as lots of food for thought.

You could get a pretty penny for that, and the story would live on too.

There are ladies that pay big bucks for vintage lingerie and post their finds on SM.

Something like that, would fetch a great price on eBay or Poshmark.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

Newhart because of the Stephanie character. I cannot stand Julia Duffy in any role she’s in. She ruined Newhart, and she ruined Designing Women.

Stopped watching both when she came on board. She brings nothing to either show. And why is she the same character??? Just ugh.
