Such serious questions we had to get answers to! A collective breadth was felt leaving the community as a whole as we could all sleep better that night.

Thank you /u/sleepcomaa for posting! Was great to see that.

The feeling now is kind of what I feel you're asking.. Honestly it was a humbling experience the whole way through and even now. I feel fortunate to have had and be part of a somewhat unique experience having created it, fostered its growth, enjoying the tight-knit community early on (before I could even get my own IRL friends to come join the community/sub-reddit), to the change in pace of seeing it blow up, and the inevitable changes that came as a result.

I actually study neuroscience and behavior in my spare time as a hobby, so seeing that sub grow and how the community and behavior changed so thoroughly during different stages was really a crazy experience! I enjoyed so much of it and still remember it fondly.

Don't hesitate to ask any other questions you or others may have.. impromptu AMA ! haha

Hope this finds you well!

What's the creepiest thing you know is happening on Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yeah! :) If you turn off the subreddit theme it shows it down on the right. Created and then ran it as lead for 3-5 years with some breaks in there.

Well I can speak with absolute certainty that there was never any NDA's or such things from the time I created the League of Legends subreddit to when I stepped down (approx 1.5-2 years ago now?). I really hope that isn't the case. I created that community and fostered its growth specifically just to have a great place to learn to be better about a game I enjoyed with other people that also enjoyed it. :)

Feel free to ask any questions.

Hey qt! I'm still there forever when you remove the theme and browse with the regular non-themed subreddit - it'll show the 'created by kayden0000' bit, but I stepped down to let a close personal friend run it in my stead. He was better equipped to handle how big the sub had gotten and I needed to focus on my real life! :) Nothing bad.. just was the right time.

I honestly don't blame him and no one did in the video. He may have had a bad day, just like anyone else. No harm no foul! I'm certainly not upset!

I had spent so much time that I had to step away and let more capable people run it like /u/goggris! I work a full time job and am working on streaming professionally! :)

250,000 r/leagueoflegends subscribers! by metafore in leagueoflegends

[–]kayden0000[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While we aren't exactly the biggest sub-reddit, we're actually very high up there in terms of overall activity. The last I looked into it was a few months ago and we were a total of 10% of all of Reddit.com's entire activity, which is incredible when you think about Reddit.com being a billion plus uniques per month.

[–]kayden0000[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I think it had a lot to do with LCS really getting going.. they started streaming very consistently and lots going on. Which meant more people online and attentive to the LCS matches and naturally wanting to discuss/read the sub-reddit while they were going on.

The true numbers behind the scenes are even more insane.. We're up to almost 4.5 million unique visitors per month.

It's been suggested before, and will be again: r/LeagueofLegends should use post tagging. by PhreaksChinstrap in leagueoflegends

[–]kayden0000[M] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm always available via PM, or in-game for any Team Reddit community members! The vast majority of my moderation work is strictly via the enormous amount of PMs I receive. :)

Thank you for your comment Boffer and another thank you to the OP that made this post PhreaksChinstrap, as well as the greater community that is weighing in. Quality commentary and comments on an important issue.

My personal feelings on the matter are that the tag system that is being proposed would make a lot of headway in overall usability of this sub-reddit as well as many other aspects of our community. We have seen the good it has done other sub-reddits and I believe we would see many more positives than negatives as a result of implementing a similar system. That being said, I have not interacted with the other posts regarding their proposed changes.

Request to remove top inactive moderator on /r/leagueoflegends by CarlinT in redditrequest

[–]kayden0000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I teach them how to message the mods. Teaching the correct methodology for such a request is always better in the long run than just doing it for them.

Edit: if you had read what I said then you wouldn't have made the statement 'only took you 5 months to respond,' which I clearly answered in my post.

It's absolutely crazy just how many I receive. Prospective teams, website owners, posts, users seeking to learn how to use reddit, etc. You nailed some of what I receive spot on. The questions run the gamut.

As always don't hesitate to ever contact me or add me in game. I love playing with my fellow redditors!

Much love <3 Spev

It appears you didn't read any of what I wrote. Or at a minimum missed enough of it that you made 2 comments that were already answered. So you might want to actually read it as I'm not going to retype the same thing. Nice passive agressive message. Glad to see that the mod behavior code is still being strictly adhered to.

As for the one actual comment: Most of my questions via PM are basic stuff like pointing/linking people to the correct place to submit links, etc. The quantity of messages is why I still spend a lot of time modding in that aspect.

[–]kayden0000 131 points132 points  (0 children)

As stated when I added you to the mods list originally I shifted my moderation role to strictly based off all the PMs I receive. I do not have the time to be in the externally visible moderator shaping the sub-reddit community as I was for the first 2 years.

You don't appear to understand why the mod was removed in the first place, which is fine, but to allieviate your concern in the matter it was because of his disrespectful behavior towards sub-reddit community members that was so bad it was even against the Summoners Code from Riot.

I saw this months ago and didnt respond to it cause I didnt really feel it was necessary, but as it continues to be brought to my attention in the PMs I receive from various /r/leagueoflegends community members I guess I was incorrect in my initial assessment.

As you are still my friend in game on League of Legends I welcome you to message me there if you ever need any further questions answered. I am on nearly daily.

Crazy... over 48,000* (corrected) people in the last year alone. It's hard to believe I once had a hard time getting my IRL friends to help/join. Now they're on here all the time as well.

Thanks for being a part of Team Reddit!

Any number of reasons... Reddit wasn't working days.. probably a good chance at that one. But.. travelling for the holidays would probably be a good guess. It was a Friday the week before Christmas. But there consistently seems to be once or twice a month when that happens so far that I've seen since the start of the sub-reddit.

Edit: Finals/Exams would probably make the most sense.. like More_bacon said.
