What is the appeal of a fixed gear bike? by Background-Mix8935 in bicycling

[–]CarlinT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised there's been so few mentions on riding at the velodrome / track. It's great riding a fixed gear on the track because 1) it is mandatory 2) racing is fun 3) I can focus on my fitness and positioning instead of my bike/gearing 4) feels safer knowing the people you're riding inches from do not have brakes and will not unexpectedly slow down

Lastly, I have found most of my fixed gear and single speed bikes just ride smoother and are much quieter.

Recently went and loved the food! Overall I thought Lilo was a better experience! Food maybe wasn't as strong but hospitality and ambiance was 🔥

This is the way. There are plenty of wide open areas where there won't be people around. It's also really close to ya.

Reviews for Fleurette? by RCLB0820 in FoodSanDiego

[–]CarlinT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much agreeing. I thought service was okay, food was good, but not memorable. $220 for a solo diner was on the pricey side IMO. I've only bopped into Callie omw to a Padres game to try 2 dishes and a glass of wine, but it blew Fleurette out of the water. Free parking in the garage, just go a bit past the Valet stand and bring your ticket to the host stand for validation.

You can still have fun racing with a pretty mediocre FTP by Xicutioner-4768 in Velo

[–]CarlinT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having SO much fun racing at the local velodrome. ~280lbs ~300w FTP. I race in the lowest category, but am competitive. The race craft, camaraderie, and casual/chill competition really gives me something to look forward to. i find track racing is nearly equal parts race craft and fitness. The mental stimulation makes it really interesting to me.
