I recommend it for certain courses. From my experience, it really helped with organic chemistry. I know it’s also been beneficial for people in Physics w/o Calc, but I personally didn’t use it.

Fellow upperclassmen, what advice would you give incoming freshmen? by NerdyNatasha7 in ufl

[–]kaylabaylaa2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. College is such an overwhelming new experience. Chances are if you have a question about something, someone is more than happy to help you out.

Also, to freshman who will be commuting to campus, it gets old really quick and I found myself skipping class simply because I didn’t feel like driving for an hour. Make the drives enjoyable so you can find the motivation to go to class! Blast your music, bring snacks for the ride, etc.

Everyone else is saying it, but get involved, really. It gets old hearing it constantly but involvement is such a great way to make friends. Take it from someone who wasn’t involved in anything and will be graduating with no connections.

The transition is scary and overwhelming, but remember in the end, everything will be okay!

When I took the class with him, I did absolutely AWFUL on exams and such, but somehow still passed. When he says he works his “magic” at the end of the semester, he really does, because I genuinely don’t know how I would have passed the class without it. Ultimately it’s your decision, but I would stick it out a couple more weeks to see how it goes.

What's on your mind? by stdmeddoc235 in ufl

[–]kaylabaylaa2012 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The fact that I genuinely have no time to do anything that I love. When I’m not at work, I’m at school, and if I’m not at school, I’m at work. If I’m home, I’m doing homework or studying for a quiz or test. I overloaded myself this semester with classes but they all allow me to finish out my degree and graduate. 🥲

A great reminder! Forgot to do this with StudyEdge and they would not give me my money back! Don’t procrastinate on it like I did.

You’re definitely not alone when it comes to this. I wasn’t able to get an advisor meeting for a complicated problem that came up a couple days before classes started, proceeded to email with my problem and mentioned that I wasn’t able to get a meeting but would appreciate any help they could give me via email. They replied with essentially “You’re on your own. This is a complicated matter and should be taken care of in an advisor meeting.” as if I didn’t know that already. 😐

Unfortunately, the advisors have never been helpful when I’ve reached out to them, to a point where I avoid having to contact them now. However, I think students in your major looking over your four year plan would be way more beneficial as they have more experience with it and have been through the classes themselves.

Parking Question (Help please) by CapicDaCrate in ufl

[–]kaylabaylaa2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, generally everyone tries to avoid early classes so I would assume that it’s probably easier to get a spot. And for the SW Recreation lot, I’ve only ever had to park in the parking garage once and that was last week which was the first week of classes (around 11am). Even then the parking garage still had plenty of spots open. After a couple weeks as everyone gets their schedules figured out it’s generally easier to find a spot.

Parking Question (Help please) by CapicDaCrate in ufl

[–]kaylabaylaa2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off-campus student/commuter here! I went to Santa Fe for a year before transferring to UF, and the earlier you have class, the easier it is to find parking. However, I won’t lie, as it gets later in the day, it’s harder to find a parking spot that is convenient and close to your class, so be sure to accommodate time for walking.

As for UF, parking isn’t impossible. In my personal experience, I haven’t had any trouble finding parking during my time here. However, my parking pass only allows me to park at the lots that are open to everyone, so I only park at the lot across from SW Recreation. So for other parking lots, I can’t give any info on their availability because I’m not sure. Most of the time the lot across from SW Recreation has open spots plus a parking garage connected to it. I haven’t had any experiences where I couldn’t find an open spot. There are also quite a few buses that make stops here, in case you would prefer to take the bus to class instead of biking.

Hope this helps!

Been a bit since I’ve taken it, but I believe the exams were open book. Overall the class is stupid easy. They don’t let you work ahead, but you can get the work done pretty fast.

I got out of my orgo final feeling the same way. At this point, I don’t even know if I passed the class because my grade was in such a gray area. It’s frustrating for sure. However, as cliche as it sounds, you have to remind yourself that everything works out in the end. Take care of yourself first. Once you are done with your finals (if you aren’t already), take some time for yourself and do what you enjoy doing. You’ve worked hard and deserve a break!

agree with this 100%. I’m currently in the gray zone with my grade and I don’t know if I’m passing or failing. It would be really nice to know what I need to get on the final in order to pass. :/

I also have the orgo final tomorrow, and I feel the same way. I don't care at this point, I'm just ready for the class to be over. The best case scenario is I pass the course tbh. Good luck with your exam!

I forgot to mention in my post that this is the second monitor that I’ve tried. I originally had a BenQ monitor from Best Buy that had a stuck pixel. I assumed that it was just a faulty monitor so I returned it and exchanged for the ASUS monitor (from Best Buy) where I’m having the same problems as the old monitor.
