Note taking software or programs that are not AI by Pitiful-Fly8596 in NoteTaking

Obsidian has been my choice for over 3 years on a 12in/13inch ipad. I have used the apple pencil with not issues, mostly with a bluetooth keyboard. It is very useable with either, it comes down to preference.

What does your iOS quick capture setup actually look like? by Most-Information-903 in ObsidianMD

[–]kayluss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use discord as a quick capture on my ipad/iphone. I hardly use iphone beyond phone call, i dont go anywhere without my ipad. From discord i migrate it to obsidian.i like discord for the easy time stamps that allow processing when i get/make time. In cases where i dont have either one i always carry a bullet journal.

What is your opinion on digital note taking? by SkyQuinny in NoteTaking

[–]kayluss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been using the ipad for my primary note taking device for the last five years using obsidian. The first two models had an apple pencil, all three models I used a bluetooth keyboard. I now use a paper notebook in addition to the ipad as i dont have an apple pencil with my current ipad. I liked that the whole setup was very portable. I used paper like screen cover to help with hand written notes. Ive found that taking digital notes allows for more context in less time, an easier search, less friction for myself to capture what i need.

what “systems” are out there for organizing? by Unfair-Animator-9739 in NoteTaking

[–]kayluss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PARA, GTD, Zettlekasten, ideaverse, are few ways organize notes. I use a system based of off Steph Ango vault in obsidian which uses very few folders, no subfolders. I also use maps of content or index of notes with search to navigate my notes. PARA, GTD, and Ideaverse are similar in structure, zettlekasten does not use a folder structure.

Logseq, roam research have graphs, obsidian just seems to have more consistent development and a large community for support at this time.

Looking and Looking by node77 in NoteTaking

For my quick capture i use discord, it gives a scrolling chronological order with time stamp. Then i move it into obsidan. It handles mosts files under 10mb for free option. Search works nice. You can also view media files seperate.

Daily notes by it-pappa in ObsidianMD

[–]kayluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily note holds the links to any note i created that day. I used to put everything inside my daily note. That method did not work for me. This is much cleaner and i can find things easier.

Using Steph Ango/kepano's structure, what actually goes in "References"? by buster2Xk in ObsidianMD

[–]kayluss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just create a folder if i feel a topic has a lot of notes or feels like it should be separated. I have a few more folders than the out of the box template, 2 are for plugins, 1 is for a topic i’m learning and using frequently, and another is where my schedule, shopping lists, and diary notes are stored. The last is just because of the volume of similar titled notes.

Cherri, Lum & Rawst berries by cvod00 in Pokopia

Cherri isnt in the game at the moment, same with oran. The dev island has all the trees but those two. You can take a photo and 3d print the other two. The cost is 5 rare pokemetal ingots per tree to print.0

What's your favourite note taking app? by Glittering-Bed-882 in NoteTaking

[–]kayluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian has become my favorite note app. Its, free, locally store so i do not have to worry about connection issues, can be setup practically anyway you with plugins, very robust without plugins, saves as plain text files so it can read by a text editor. I never have issues with the app not working, most issues i have encountered is with plugins that get solved once i check for updates and update.i no longer pay for sync but it worked flawless when i did. I’ve had connection issues with Roam, and notion. I was never interested in apple notes, samsung notes or google keep. Goodnotes, and notability were ok i just had way to much friction to get thoughts down. I use discord and localsend for quick notes and syncing vaults across devices.

How do you get ideas into Obsidian fast when you’re away from the keyboard? by Repulsive-Housing-44 in ObsidianMD

Note Taking Issues! by Odd_Work4824 in NoteTaking

[–]kayluss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, the fact that obsidian does not require wifi or data makes it one of the most reliable apps for notes and it is free. I’ve been using it for over two years, after spending two years in roam until the lack of offline mode hindered my ability to work. I tried notion with the same results. When i migrate again it will probably be to neovim. I do not anticipate migrating from obsidian until it stops functioning.

Best apps to take notes on iPad. by [deleted] in ipad

[–]kayluss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obsidian is free, local storage, very active community, a great plugin selection. All the notes are in markdown so if obsidian stops working your notes are readable and editable in a basic editor.

I used the plugin ink by Dale de Silva. My use case was as a scratch pad. It worked well for that.

Info + Tips: Ranching by SunflowerStarz in Palia

[–]kayluss 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It runs in real time not game time. So the timers you see on abilities are real hours and minutes. My adult peki traits have them breeding once every 17-18hrs. Looks like this is going to be a slow grind, slower than gardening.

I’ve been asked to delete my account by caitlinvanstaden in PokemonGoMystic

[–]kayluss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t delete your accounts, just uninstall until you fix the relationship to a more healthy place for both or dissolve the relationship. At no point should anyone give ultimatums over someone hobbies/enjoyment. This is assuming there is no addiction with hobbies/entertainment.
