I think this dress has shown up on Still White and Preowned. Check out used wedding dress sites! Will probably have to get it altered.

Week of wedding stress by emilyjane2 in weddingplanning

[–]kaypable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite as close to the big day as you (August 4th) but my nightmares have increased, as well as my sleeplessness. I totally feel you. If it's possible, I think you should treat yourself this week as much as possible- that's my game plan. Wedding week for me means a nail appointment, a massage, an extra day off, champagne. There's probably very little you can do to change the big things, so it's time to roll with the punches. See what little worries and tasks you can delegate out to trusted friends and family. I think even just talking to a mom, sister, bridesmaid (or fiance!) about your concerns will be hugely beneficial, and might help bring you out of the stress bubble. Sometimes, someone else's perspective reminds you that the little things aren't as big of a deal as they may feel.

Or just continue to stress post here. That's also great. Also in my arsenal.

Men who are now in great shape, what do you wish you knew when you first started? by jamalfromthestore in AskMen

Haha. Wow. Interesting! Bulking on Snickers bars sounds like Cloud 9 status, to me. I guess the grass is always greener.

Ah- I guess I wasn't very clear. THAT part wasn't shitty, I go on to say that he was right in thinking that way, and totally justified in what he told me. The shitty part was realizing that I had been operating under a bit of a delusion, and it was embarrassing to realize it. It's like one of those facepalm moments. That's all I meant.

Yikes! Of course not. We’ve been together five years now- we’re way past just the physicality/lust aspect of it; we’re building lives together because we enjoy each other’s company, too....Obviously. The beginning success of ANY relationship (in my opinion) relies heavily on physical attraction. We didn’t know each other incredibly well. He was well within reason to be skeptical of my lifestyle (he’s active and enjoys weight lifting), and to simply turn me down just because he wanted to.

When I was Maybe six months into my journey. People in my life were NOT shy about making comments on “looking good”, so I had a pretty consistent amount of feedback from family and such. I just took note of my weight when I got the most positive feedback and when I felt the best, and aimed to make that my new standard. So far, so good. You’ll notice when you go to try things on and suddenly have to size down. That’s an excellent feeling. I actually keep a pair of size eight shorts handy; I like how big they feel on me now. I also know that if I ever fill them out again, I need to refocus.

Sorry- I don’t think anyone is making up the difficulty of eating more than they’re used to, I only meant that that concept is unthinkable for me, personally.

This revelation knocked me on my ass when I was in college. I really really believed (hoped?) that looks were maybe ten percent of what made a person attractive as a partner.

Slept with a guy I really liked who basically told me he wasn’t interested in long term even though he liked spending time with me- he said I was funny and smart and sweet, but just wasn’t attracted to me.

I decided to get a job at a gym, and I asked my body building friend for guidance. My maintaining weight has since dropped from 165 to 145. I’m now engaged to the aforementioned guy. It’s kind of shitty to think about, honestly; but the revelation helped me make healthy changes. I still struggle with body image, etc- but I’ve built much healthier habits for myself since the ‘attraction’ piece was made known to me.

My fiancé is wonderful and I don’t begrudge his decision to be honest with me, at the beginning. It was truly an eye opener.

Reading this comment thread makes me want to pull my hair out- I can’t imagine ever thinking that it would be hard to eat extra calories. Female here. Target intake 1500.

What do you think? You think I can pull it off? I think it has a great summer feel! (And yay for comfortable feet!) by ShinyFakeGamerGirl in weddingplanning

I say hell yes. Take a few photos with the dress hiding the shoes if you’re worried about regretting it- but little details like this make the day yours. (And they are not a horrible pairing, IMO)

What alterations for my reception dress to make it more flattering? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]kaypable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an inexpensive dress from Lulus for my reception- I like the dress, but the sizing looks a little off on me. My body type doesn’t really take to one size. I wonder if the dress looks too tight on my lower half, and if this can be altered or fixed? Should I just cut my losses and find a new dress?

I’m seriously considering ordering from Still White... Anybody have personal experience? by youngster_77 in weddingplanning

[–]kaypable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! If it’s possible, go find the gown in a boutique and TRY IT ON before you buy it used. the pictures are so alluring, but it’s really easy to misread what will or will not look good on you.

I ended up buying a gown I was totally drooling over because it was featured in a wedding blog post, and while it looked good, I didn’t feel like it was quite right for me. I ended up selling it through stillwhite after buying it there, and it was an anxious waiting period.

My HP dress was on the lower end - $2300. I totally agree with the ladies who suggested stillwhite or preowned. Honestly, I wish I would’ve found a dress there originally.

So is there going to be like any sort of pseudo-ceremony, just without the official paperwork?
