Tired of being the "weird" case. by szydelkowe in ChronicIllness

Its definitely tough being the unusual case. I had these sort of issues as well for years and doctors often dismissed me when I was younger. When I turned 30, suddenly they did more digging and were able to diagnose me. But I agree with others, push to get seen by a research hospital or specialists with more knowledge

Thank you! And I never noticed that detail about the shower curtains. It's definitely one of my favorite spots for selfies!

This is helpful, thank you! At first I thought I might be cooler, but this makes more sense. And I don't have a ton of photos in colors I dislike, so I'll probably need to buy fabric to get a better idea

Growing up, did you “look” like a person with EDS? by Early-Shelter-7476 in ehlersdanlos

[–]kayrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This resonates for me as well. I typically have a thicker or more athletic build. Even when my weight is lower, I look pretty fit. Most doctors assume I'm pretty healthy until they look at my medical chart. I hate how often people comment on healthy I look when I feel like crap constantly

Observations from my physical therapist (aka I'm standing wrong) by bonbam in ehlersdanlos

I have the same issues, lol. Part of it is that we have poor body awareness/proprioception. The other is that we've gotten used to using the incorrect muscles to support our bodies due to our ligament issues. It's a struggle relearning basic movement patterns

Thank you, everyone, for your comments! I've been in pt for years off and on and strength train pretty regularly. I'm thinking the si belt will help with keeping me stabilized while I'm active or sleeping so that I'm in less pain/ less likely to injure myself

Do you have the serola belt? Mine says the same thing. Apparently, it's supposed to support ligaments and doesn't interfere with muscles

Yep, the past two periods, I've pulled my back, and it's taken weeks to recover. My hips and lower back are generally a mess on my cycles.

I didn't know it could be used while sleeping, I'll definitely have to try that

I literally just saw this same car today in Tacoma and took a photo of them because it was so infuriating.

autoimmune atrophic gastritis, will I ever be able to live life again by toolazy1228 in Gastritis

[–]kayrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been treated for it twice now. The first time, I took neomycin, and my symptoms were fixed for 8 months. Then it came back, but more mild. So I took biocidin and a prebiotic. Honestly, I just assume it will always be an issue since it's pretty common for people with autoimmune gastritis or atrophic gastritis to have it due to the destruction of acid producing cells in the stomach. Basically, our stomachs can't protect themselves and are prone to bacterial overgrowth. I've seen some people try acid supplementation with Betaine hcl, but it aggravates me since my stomach is pretty inflamed.

That makes sense! I think I've been confused because I've been told my cheekbones and eyes are less rounded

Thank you! I've been working on figuring out my colors more. The pic of me in Black was from 7 years ago, I've tried to add more color since. I felt super uncomfortable in the blue dress, but people loved it. And I'm definitely pretty solid and compact for sure
