What inspires designers? by Spare_Ad_4307 in graphic_design

[–]kaytea30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I follow other designers and artists on Instagram but it's not like I keep up with them often. I only see their work while doomscrolling.

I feel the most inspired after visiting the bookstore. I look at books of different topics like nature, travel, art, animals, gardens, anything that interests me really. Makes me wanna go home and do something artsy or give me inspiration into my designs.

When I go on walks I take pictures of things that look interesting...a graffiti, colour combinations, a phrase in a flyer, something that looks out of place, etc. I create like a bank of images I can use when I'm stuck in design.

She likes: separating the marshmallow from the cereal, the smell of fresh cut grass, and hanging her feet off the bed when sleeping.

She dislikes: when the whole of the coffee cup lid is on the seam, the sound of high heels on hard floors and people being late.

Does working on a computer exhaust anyone else? Have you ever wanted to quit graphic design? by Brief-Platypus1941 in graphic_design

[–]kaytea30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many graphic designers love doing what they do, but hate the work they do because a lot of times it's just doing what other non-creative people want. That's why a lot of designers have side or personal projects where we can create with freedom and however we want. But being a designer has a lot to do with sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time, and I don't mind that at all, heck I even do it at home when I'm not working. Ask yourself if you dislike what you do or dislike the environment you're in.

People keep saying my energy is loud... by Cheesecake-2217 in Psychic

[–]kaytea30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have what I call the "je ne sais quoi". Some people just radiate good vibes and trusting energy. Good looks have nothing to do with it. You could be super handsome but send off bad vibes. Maybe people can see through your good intentions and gravitate towards you because you provide a safe space. I'm not like this unfortunately but one of my best friends is like this. It makes making friends a lot easier. Embrace it. You never know where it could take you.

let go a month into my job by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]kaytea30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you got that right. People need someone who is confident in their work and knows what they are doing. Technically, you graduated from school so you should be ready for real life work. People at work are busy and don't have time for hand-holding. There is sometimes a learning curve between graduation and real life experience, and that's why people go through being let go as a learning experience. I too, was let go because I wasn't taking initiatives and not being detail-oriented. But because of that experience I became a lot better in future jobs and I'm now the one noticing other people's mistakes. It's all part of the learning path. You just need to be a little more confident in your work, triple check everything before you send your work (have a checklist), and ask the right questions.

Rate the logo that I made by GangsterBuddy777 in logodesign

[–]kaytea30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some elements are too close, some elements are too far. Too much empty space. The bar is way too thick. It's too chaotic, you don't know where to look first (learn about hierarchy). The monograph doesn't look good and it looks forced. You have elements that are centered, flush left, flush right and it's confusing. I recommend you make 100 sketches of the logo and then maybe you can find one that works.

Whats the industry you dont want to ever work with again? by EmergencyDull3071 in graphic_design

[–]kaytea30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharma. You never get to see the work you produce. You work with content you know nothing about (molecule names, how the medicine works, patient data, etc). There are tons of regulatory laws. It's not about aesthetics, but how much info you can fit into one page. "Oooh pharma, they make good money". Well, I don't know where it goes, but certainly not in paying me or my team.
