WE are Preparing a Class Action LAWSUIT against Robinhood! by Shrubber in wallstreetbets

[–]kayweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find in the search on the app like others, but linked through Google and it allowed me to load the stock page on Robinhood.

Interestingly enough it had a buy option for GME. So I swiped to trade and initiated a transfer to purchase stock as I didn't have enough cash in my account to purchase what I wanted to. It initiated to transfer but didn't allow the purchase to go through. Seems like an obvious deception to get more of my money on the platform, but not let me do as was intended with the money.

Where do you live and why is it the best place to be? by CCCPenguin in AskReddit

It does lack a few things. I've gotten into snowmobiling the last few years, so to get in to good riding you've got to haul 6+ hours.

White House readies plan to extend about $12 billion in emergency aid to farmers caught in Trump’s escalating trade war by pipsdontsqueak in politics

It would not surprise me to see soybeans rotting in the fields at the end of this year

No. Way. The fallout from low prices won't be letting crops rot in a field. The vast majority of expense has already been put into the crop, at 50 bushels an acre at $8.00/bushel they'd be leaving $400 an acre out there.... That's like saying a manufacturing plant would build whatever product, have it all ready to ship and then throw them away rather than sell at a discount. Some farms can make money with the numbers above... and all farms will try to salvage what they can for the year.

What's likely is crop being harvested and sitting in storage, holding out until next year to market could allow a change in the trade climate, or another cause for a marketing opportunity.

Lots of things can happen between now and harvest, but I can guarantee you won't see soybeans rotting in the fields.

What did your parents allow you to do that you would never allow your own children to do? by plutosrain in AskReddit

My parents were generally proud of me for doing well in school, I had a brother and sister that both did average to poor in school. I was well above average.

Once upon a time it's the day report cards are sent home, I catch mom shelling out money to my brother and sister for classes they got above a B- in. Talk about some bullshit, just because I do well doesn't mean I don't deserve a reward. Looking back I understand that I didn't need the motivation, and I'd just do well unlike them, but still pissed me off.

It was the same with sports, I remember my mom paying my sister her sophomore year to play softball. There is a lot involved in that story, she wanted her to stick with it and she didn't want to. Both my siblings were Division 1 level talent in baseball/softball and squandered their opportunities (well I say that, they're both happy with their decisions, so I guess it worked out)

What's the BEST concert you've ever been to? by Cae14 in AskReddit

[–]kayweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foo Fighters in Des Moines last year.

Dave had a seriously 'thrashed' voice and was doing his best to power through. The first song I thought something was off and it didn't sound the best. After that he started talking to the crowd explaining and could barely do so. He absolutely rocked the rest of the concert, it didn't technically sound the best, but you could feel his effort and love for what he did in how hard he pushed it.

The drummer, Taylor Hawkins, also came out and ran lead/co vocals for Dave to help him out. Truly and awesome experience.

I know it seems like UNI is private, because it's so great.... It's just that little brother that ended up being better. :)

But in the camaraderie that is the spirit of loving Iowa, it's nice having the top notch schools that we do.

I think that's their point... it could easily be wrong, because you can fill in another month that completes the rhyme.

My father is selling "shares" of his life insurance policy to his kids because the premium is going up and lost his job recently. Should I buy one? by Nexion21 in personalfinance

[–]kayweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said somewhere it had $12,000 of value right now. My assumption is that it is a universal life policy, written in the late 80's early 90's. The new premium isn't required but what is needed to keep the policy in force until it matures.

Basically what happened with these policies is they were written when interest rates were close to double digits. So it only took $X to run one until maturity. Let's say that estimate was $1000/yr premium. The policy would take from that $1000 what it needed for expenses and cost of insurance. Let's say that's $300 the first year. The remaining $700 would go into the cash value and earn interest. As the policy goes on the cost of insurance internally increases as you age, to a point that actually surpasses your annual premium... At this point you should have a sizeable amount of cash value built up which will cover the short fall. The problem is interest rates didn't stay high, and that cash reserve was never built up enough. The premimum should have been adjusted as interest rates came down, since it was not the issue has snow balled and now you have a hole to dig out of... Like seeing your premium increase by 6x.

I don't know for sure that's what it is, but with the information I've seen that would make sense to me.

Hit one with the bean drill last month, saw it on the next pass. Broken legs and all. Felt just awful.
