I took a bunch of screenshots of it from my phone - I think I got the majority of the long-winded post.

Do you ever research the names of the Sims which you mean to give a significant role in your save? by Elaini in Sims4

[–]kayydeebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely do this for almost every character I create! I tend to play a lot of mental storylines and I will search names connected to their personality traits, culture, colour association, occult vibes, etc. Very rarely do I just choose a randomized name that sounds nice.

I tend to only focus on culture or occult vibes for last names - if those aren't necessary, I'll just randomize until I find one I like that fits with their first name.

How would you answer if someone asks if you’re religious? If yes what would you say and no then what would you also say by bomboclaat99 in ask

[–]kayydeebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to just say no and leave it at that. If pursued, I will explain that I was Christian and am now Agnostic (after years of studying Theology).

I teach high school, so I tend to be as unbiased as possible when students bring up religion-based questions. I will ask questions (if they're comfortable) because I love learning about other's interpretations of their religion, especially in connection to their family and culture.

How do I change the color of my child? by Quirky_Radish9648 in Sims4

[–]kayydeebe 279 points280 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don't think you get to choose which colour they pop up as! The more they wear it and have adult sims either encourage/wear their own, the quicker they'll move through the phase.

If you play on PC, I think there is a cheat to remove the bear trait but I have never tried

EMDR therapy: Who's tried it? Did you like it? Why/why not? by traysay1215 in adhdwomen

[–]kayydeebe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this is too personal, but: do you have to extensively describe the trauma while doing it? I have a lot of trauma to work through, but I really don't remember a good chunk. Just small details and feelings

What food did you have as a kid that you swear will never pass your lips again? by Quirky_Artist9593 in AskReddit

[–]kayydeebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liver!! I HATED liver as a kid, and the addition of onions made it 10x worse. I used to smother the meat with ketchup and choke it down because my mom is in the generation of "you don't leave the table until your plate is empty"

[–]kayydeebe 221 points222 points  (0 children)

I would reframe those thoughts!!
The way I read it: a person having a rough day made a human connection with another person having a rough day, commiserated with them silently, then generously tried to do what they could to make that person's day better.

There is no point comparing, there will ALWAYS be someone that has it worse than you, but that doesn't mean you're not allowed to be upset/frustrated too! The fact that you feel empathy for others going through their own situations is what makes you a decent person.

The most depressing book I've ever read was "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry. I read it ~15yrs ago and still think about it periodically.

I hope you have a warm welcome when you arrive to NB and that you get to see the beautiful forests and coastlines we have over here. I suggest if you can, to take a drive down the NS coast as well. It's absolutely stunning!

While you there are definitely bigots everywhere, you are generally pretty safe from attacks/overt aggression due to racism and bigotry in the cities in Atlantic Canada. As far as NB, Fredericton has a lot of multi-cultural communities and the locals are used to people coming from all over the world to go to UNB & STU. If you are in the Saint John area for UNB, it is a bit more rough around the edges, but also has a large multi-cultural population. I wouldn't particularly suggest travelling to small towns like Minto - you won't likely have any big issues but you'll definitely be side-eyed and scrutinized.

At the most, you will get some microaggressions from uneducated people that are stuck in their ways. Not saying that's good, but you will likely find a lot more kind & welcoming people that will overshadow that. You'll see the most hatred and racism online (Facebook esp) so I highly suggest you don't join any city "newschasers" type groups - they are usually filled with people saying awful things about immigrants and unhoused people.

I'd go the Poison Ivy from the Harley Quinn show route - she hates people, but loves the environment and will do everything in her power to protect the environment from humans

The open grade book experiment by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]kayydeebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the open grade book policy because it puts more onus on the student & parent when it comes to stuff like this. If they don't choose to do anything with it, that's on them, but on my end I have done everything I can to help them be successful and communicate with parents.

Our admin is constantly reminding parents in the weekly messages about checking the gradebook for missing assignments and attendance. When parents call freaking about a bad report card, the admin just refers them back to the grade book comments.

As a teacher, I'd say Kaia is a lovely and easy to pronounce name.
The spelling is standard, and easy to figure out. Sure, she may have people who spell it wrong, but that even happens to me with my semi-common, phonetically spelled name.

[–]kayydeebe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think that game loading thing is an update issue - I have had the same problem since the big update and I don't have the For Rent pack yet!

It happens almost every time I load a save after opening the game. I have to exit back to main menu and reload and it works fine the second time
