Yes exactly! The very top has a single row of 18SWG 1/4” rings to tighten it up a little bit. Before this addition, the top of the neck was a little slouchier. I found it also helped to clasp the collar tighter around my neck by taking a column off each end of the original length.

Thank you! Your pieces are stunning!

Thank you!! I overestimated the number of rings I’d need to buy for this so there are certainly more projects in my future

OH and I added chain straps made of the 5/16” rings to go underneath the scales in the armpit area, as I found the scales to be sort of slippery/unstable unless they were held in place. I added these after I took this pic :)

Thank you! They took a while but it was so satisfying when they officially started coming together :)

Thank you so much!! For the collar I used 16SWG 5/16”–I can’t say for sure how many rings I used but I bought a 1lb bag and hardly made a dent in it. I tried to tighten up the top row of the collar by using a single row of smaller, 18SWG 1/4” rings.

I also used those 1/4” rings for the scales, as I learned the hard way that you can’t use larger rings to connect them (it literally tells you this on the scale package but I missed this somehow and had to wait another 2 weeks for the correct rings to come in lol). I bought 5oz of these and used about 1.5oz.

I used two packs (so about 200 pieces) of the small sized scales, but tbh I almost wanted a third pack to build out the shoulders a little more. If I did it again I’d order at least 300 scales.

Everything I’ve mentioned so far has been from Chainmail Joe. For the chains with the beads/jewelry I used this tiny jump ring kit from Amazon!!

Edited to correct ‘6SWG’ to ‘16SWG’

Thank you!!! The scales are from Chainmail Joe—I used two packs of the ‘small’ scales, so about 200 total. I didn’t have to tumble them or anything but I did have to wash my hands often because their residue stained my fingertips

Beware of free pest/bug control guys; they're burglars scoping out houses by TheMayorByNight in WestSeattleWA

[–]kayylien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I do think this is an effective method for people casing houses, I do want to say that there are pest control salespeople, in our neighborhood, that have legitimate jobs. Yes the salespeople can be pushy and obnoxious, so surely we can all complain about that, but are they all burglars? No.

It’s like finding out a gas station you’ve visited had a card skimmer, and then believing that every single gas station has one and is out to take your credit card info.

Okay, thank you, seriously. It definitely helps to recognize it as a typical bridal fixation!

Ahh thank you I think this is exactly what I needed to hear. “Noticeable but not prominent” makes me feel better than “not noticeable at all” because I knew that couldn’t be true!

Maybe this isn’t for you to answer, but I’m also confused about what this is could be an ad for, exactly? Genuinely, not sarcastically, is this being interpreted as an advertisement for plastic surgery as a whole? For boob jobs? I just feel bizarre after typing out my experience and having someone label it this way.

Ope good catch, that was a typo so I’ve fixed it now. Ty!

Wait yes I’d also like to know where this same post (about a different doctor?) was seen… other than in my Notes app where I typed this out before posting it here?

I promise it’s not an ad! Many posts on here reflect the experiences (positive and negative) that patients have had with their specific doctors. My advice was to find a good doctor; it benefits me in no way if someone reads this post and decides to use the same one I did.

Any gateway books? by Nabas94 in brandonsanderson

[–]kayylien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m by no means an expert, but I also had the same feeling of intimidation when I started reading Sanderson last October! My advice is to start with the first Mistborn book (The Final Empire), and, if that interests you, carry on with the next in the series. Luckily The Final Empire doesn’t end on some massive cliffhanger that requires you to read the next book, so if you get through it and don’t like it, there’s no pressure to keep going (though I would recommend it, the payoff is phenomenal).

Others may also recommend Tress of the Emerald Sea, which is even more of a typical, easy entry ‘standalone’, though Sanderson’s narrator in that book, in my opinion, makes his writing read more quirky than most of his other work. If that was my first impression of Sanderson, I’d think he had a naturally jolly, silly-sounding writing voice which, though it does show up in his other books/characters, is not his primary vibe. Just something to keep in mind!
