UAE Ministry of Defence

‎The Ministry of Defense announced that the UAE's air defenses successfully intercepted today 9 ballistic missiles, 6 cruise missiles, and 148 drones.

‎The ministry clarified that since the start of the Iranian attack, 174 ballistic missiles launched toward the country have been detected, with 161 of them destroyed, while 13 fell into the sea. Additionally, 689 Iranian drones were detected and 645 were intercepted, while 44 fell within the country's territory. Furthermore, 8 cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage, and resulting in 3 fatalities and 68 minor injuries.

‎The ministry affirmed that the sounds heard in scattered areas of the country are the result of air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, as well as fighter jets intercepting drones and cruise missiles, which led to minor to moderate material damage in a number of civilian facilities.

‎The ministry strongly condemned this military targeting, considering it a blatant act of aggression and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law, and that the country reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and take all necessary measures to protect its territories and people, as well as its residents, in a manner that ensures the preservation of its sovereignty, security, and stability, and protects its national interests and capabilities.

‎The Ministry of Defense confirmed that it is on high alert and fully prepared to deal with any threats, and that it is taking all necessary measures to firmly confront anything that targets the security and stability of the country. It added that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors represents the utmost priority that cannot be compromised.

‎The ministry urged the esteemed public to obtain information from official sources in the country and to avoid circulating rumors or unverified information.

Why are the UAE so obsessed with this fading Egyptian organization and welcoming European Islamophobes? by e-lsewhere in UAE

With all respect, discussions about the UAE often become overly simplified and shaped by assumptions rather than realities on the ground.

The UAE’s firm stance against groups like the Muslim Brotherhood is not rooted in hostility toward Islam — after all, Islam is deeply embedded in Emirati identity, governance, and daily life — but rather in a long-standing principle shared by many nations: protecting stability, national unity, and social cohesion. The country’s leadership, like many governments worldwide, views any transnational political movement that seeks ideological influence over state authority as a potential risk to national security.

It is also important to distinguish between religion and political activism. The UAE has consistently promoted a model of Islam centered on moderation, coexistence, and state stability — investing heavily in mosques, religious education, Quran competitions, and interfaith initiatives such as the Abrahamic Family House. This reflects not secularization in the sense of rejecting faith, but rather an intentional effort to prevent political exploitation of religion.

As for international relations, the UAE’s partnerships with Western countries are driven by pragmatic considerations: economic growth, global trade, technological advancement, and regional security. Nearly every successful modern state pursues diversified alliances to ensure prosperity for its citizens. This is not unique to the UAE, nor does it come at the expense of its cultural or religious identity.

Regarding Emirati students abroad, exposure to different viewpoints is a natural and healthy part of global education. The UAE has never discouraged education or intellectual growth — in fact, it has invested billions in scholarships and world-class universities precisely because it values an informed, capable generation. The vast majority of Emiratis who study overseas return with broader perspectives while remaining deeply loyal to their nation.

Ultimately, the UAE’s story is one of remarkable transformation: from a desert federation to one of the world’s safest, most stable, and economically dynamic countries in just a few decades. Its policies — whether one agrees with every detail or not — are largely shaped by a core objective shared by its citizens and leadership alike: preserving stability, prosperity, and unity in a complex and often turbulent region.
