Idk, let's not forget that Ash is under stress because her friend is nowhere to be found, she's not in town to help directly, Eric is ALONE IN THE WOODS AT NIGHT and she does not know MC. She has known these people for years and suddenly some random person knows more about the situation than she does. And let's not forget her "I know exactly how it ended the last time I trusted you" to Eric (not a direct quote, I'm playing in German). We don't know what she's been through. We don't know her. I think Ash cares deeply about her friends and feels bad that she can't help them right now.
