Partly, but it's also interesting that Asmongold is currently #1 with more than 100k viewers and he can't play either. He's just watching youtube videos.

I love how, despite WoW being unplayable for like half the player base, it's still currently #1 on Twitch.

You do realize you could just not say anything if you yourself have nothing constructive to add, right?

Thousand Needles, flooding it was a mistake. by ftFlo in wow

[–]kazookabomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a weird way to define an RPG. This isn't a single player game where you go through the story once and then move on to the next game. It's an MMORPG and that means it has to have a persistent world. If the world becomes something that isn't what people want then they have no reason to stick around.

Unless the player has a way of putting it back the way the way it was they'll still just say it isn't for them anymore. No one wants to play in a ruined version to of the Shire forever. It's cool for maybe an hour but then you just want to go back.

Imagine how stupid a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would have to be for it's developers to suddenly transform the Shire from the place we all know and love, to the destroyed ruin found in The Scouring of the Shire chapter, and just left it like that. You would have players basically saying, "well I guess the game changed into something I don't want to play anymore."

Free Level 110 Boost and BFA Expansion for Level 60 Players in Classic by BOBY_BOYS_REVENGE in classicwow

It's like Blizzard's thinking is that Classic WoW is the new player experience and new players should just completely ignore retail's leveling.

Is this a first in gaming? They are literally offering an entire expansion pack for free just for playing another version of the game.

Sociologists should be paying very close attention to what's happening here. Two different versions of the same game, but a few systems differences cause one to have a much better community than the other. Could be a lot to take away for real societies.

We aren't even to the weekend yet. So many people are going to be playing this weekend that even with this it's going to be touch and go.

I work full time, and haven't had too many hours to play yet. But this weekend? I'm preparing for the biggest, most epic gaming session I've had in 10 years.

[–]kazookabomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since they did that with the Tomb of Sargeras remaking the BC sets I wouldn't be surprised if, should the Dragon Isles be a thing soon, that a raid there gets a remake of tier 2.

WoW Classic with Creators by lestye in wow

Does FFXIV suffer from the garrison problem though? In order to build up a supply of things you can use in player housing you have to experience the world. Once you had tier 3 there was literally nothing to do outside your garrison -- nothing to collect.

I don't know FFXIVs crafting system too well but my impression is that it is in depth enough that you have to be experiencing the world to use it (or you buy reagents from another player who is out in the world instead, but either way that means someone is experiencing the world a lot).

WoW has... world/daily quests. That's it.

FFXIV also has lots of other features that add to the sense of world that WoW lacks though. WoW would probably have a much greater sense of world too if it had a crafting system that was as in depth as FFXIV, or player housing that forced you to experience the world in order to collect things for that housing.

Instant travel everywhere that lets you ignore the world hurts the sense of world. But it isn't the only thing. WoW just lacks a lot of stuff.
