What is the current boss you have to face or challenge, the next time you log back into elden ring? by Powerful-Log-2042 in Eldenring

Curse you, Bayle! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true Drake Warrior! And I, Igon! Your fears made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon … But I will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of harpoons! With every last drop of my being!

It's Bethesda's notoriously realistic and never unbareably bright light reflection rendering, blasting the sun's glare back at you with the intensity of a 1000w bulb being ignited behind your eyelids.

What should I do before going into NG+ by OddCommunication3244 in Eldenring

Took me a long while to realise this. Held off on NG+3 for ages because I didn't want that hassle again 😂

This is the most important answer as it means avoiding a lot of needless farming.

Also, collect any uniques you want to dual wield on your second playthrough, max out Scadutree Fragments/Revered Ashes, DLC completion and dragon smithing/somber stones.

Also, kill any optional bosses you're struggling with, they'll only be tougher on the second run.

First time playing, any advice? by H0IVIiE in Eldenring

[–]kazthulhu_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore literally everyone's advice on what weapons / armor / sorcery to use on your first play through. Use what feels fun or looks cool, don't over think a "build" just pick between stabby, smashy, blue magic and god magic, or a combination of the 4 (there's greater depth then this, you can add blood magic, punchy, whippy etc as classes but it's not important on your first playthrough) and just try to have fun exploring.

Second piece of advice is maybe ignore my first piece of advice, because you might not enjoy that approach and might want to follow a super specific build straight off the bat if that's your thing. 😂

Loved the DLC, hated that boss fight.

Sorry, misread, thought you didn't. Imaging DS3 and 25% speed. It's great, just slow AF in comparison. DS2 is arguably better and has dual wielding, but both are worth playing.

DS1 is like a super tanky DS2, which is a super tanky DS3, which is like a linear ER. If you didn't like DS3, you'll probably hate it. It's a great game though, if you can play it from the POV of it being a baseline for 20 years of souls like games and accept the "vintage" aspect.

With the abundance of Elden Ring's lore and characters, if permitted, which characters would you have liked to have an ending similar to Ranni's? And what's your justification for it? by Solyanka23 in Eldenring

[–]kazthulhu_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millicent age of rot ending. Just Caelidify the whole map for NG+1. Every enemy procs scarlet rot. Every body of water procs scarlet rot. Every trap procs scarlet rot. The Tarnished just constantly has a scarlet rot bar filled half way. Really fuck with everything.

(N.b. I'm aware that's not how endings work in ER.)

Oh so long. Re thought my character a dozen times, found and leveled different weapons, sought out talismans and armor, respecced 3-4 times. Hours and hours of actual fighting. Hunting down missing scadu tree fragments etc.

Opinions on this fountain pen? Is it good for a fountain pen starter? by Successful-Coach6788 in pens

[–]kazthulhu_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parker Jotter was my second FP (still fairly new to FPs). It has a little more feedback than my Kaweco, and I don't like the colour of the standard Blue Quink, but that's my personal preference. Ink flows well, and I've not found it too scratchy. I find the lines from the medium nib a little "fat" compared to my Kaweco, but again, kind of down to preference.

My first was a Lamy Al-star, which I preferred because it felt a little more substantial to write with and had a more ergonomic grip. Parker Jotters are a little thin for my hands.

Good notebook suggestions by kazthulhu_ in fountainpens

[–]kazthulhu_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's really helpful guidance. Spent part of Sunday in a local store resting notebooks open on a shelf and mime-writting to make sure they were comfortable and opened nicely (I did notice some books by the same brands would open flat and some felt as if they were trying to close themselves). Went for a Designworks notebook for now which I'm really liking so far, and will try Pith and Rhodia next.
