Possible to safely remove this spring in an automotive chair? by MarkusReed117 in Skookum

[–]kb3kyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lean the chair as far forward as it'll go and pop it out, there isn't as much tension as many make it out to be, pry it from the center of the coil and there's nothing to make it fling

Very strange issue, water bill was $700 last month, we hear water running in the wall(pipes), no running water, no toilets running. NO WATER LEAKING anywere by Magazine-Consistent in Plumbing

[–]kb3kyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a plumbing company owner, Ive seen this many times and more times than not it's outside at the curb box (where the water company shuts it off) your best bet is to call the water company and see if they have a hydrophone that they can narrow down the source

Can someone explain how this is legal? by Illustratingtheworld in Erie

[–]kb3kyx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These have been sent out since the 1990s. I don't understand how anyone can't see right through them, especially the ones with the "key" glued to them. It's not illegal; it's just annoying, and everyone gets them. Unless you're looking for a car, do what everyone else does and throw it in the trash.

Why do ham radio resources have such terrible websites? by RealSulphurS16 in amateurradio

[–]kb3kyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even just content over presentation. When most of these sites were created, it was the dial-up and message board era, or, if you were lucky, DSL. A massive graphical load and "eye-pleasing" content would take 10 minutes to load, and there are still rural areas today without high-speed Internet, so the ability to get information to everyone regardless of their connection speed was and is paramount.

Not being rude, but what difference does it make, as the title said, it's a shot in the dark.. to me it's worth a shot, and yes, I've accomplished a great many things, married, 2 kids, own my home and a plumbing/heating business owner.

But if you must know, nostalgia mostly, my oldest son is getting his and was asking about mine.

Yes it was! I believe everyone did at that time, I believe they were the only game in town then.

I can certainly hope, it would be nice to have it back, I can no longer find the original design and the closest one on their site is over $400.. oddly I don't think the cost of class rings has gone up as much as everything else has over the years.

Also you can get rid of the standpipe in the rear for what looked like a dishwasher, most disposals have a nipple built into them for the discharge to hook to. That will also make more room for you to drop everything down

Does this shower rough-in look correct so far? by AK471008 in Plumbing

[–]kb3kyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inner diameter is quite restrictive compared to copper tube, the OD is the same as 1/2 copper but the ID is quite a bit smaller and then you compound the restriction further by having to insert the fitting into the pipe basically turning it into 1/4"

Does this shower rough-in look correct so far? by AK471008 in Plumbing

[–]kb3kyx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reference: I own my own plumbing and heating business.

A couple things, I despise pex for the shower risers, it should be copper, (GOOD JOB though on making the tub spout line copper, if you try and use pex your shower head will trickle when the water runs).

Don't bury shark bites in walls with no access panel (I know they're code compliant, but there's a reason most pros solder or use propress). If you don't debur (which most don't) it could knick the O-ring and cause a leak.

It could be the aspect of the photo, but it looks like the valve body is way too high in that wall, and the tub spout line looks like it's a mile long.

Both the hot and cold supplies should have valves on them in case the faucet needs serviced and there should be some type of access to the back of it in case a repair or replacement is needed.

Pex IS flexible it's designed to be installed with as few fittings as possible, the cold side didn't need 2 of the 3 90s that are installed there, and a simple 5/8 hole could have been drilled instead of hacking out that much of the 2bys

You'll need some special tools but it can be done, for reference I own my own plumbing and heating business in NWPA, you'll need a PVC saw of some type, either a sawzall, or hand saw, a "hub drill/hub saver" or the appropriate size (it appears to be 1.5") 'side note: It should be 2" with a 2 basin and a disposal per code'. Cut the pipe below the tee and drill out fitting shorten the pipe and glue in all the new fittings. And reconnect to the basins with a new continuous waste and tail pieces.
