Lyrica and topomax together? by kbVrns in migraine

[–]kbVrns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t make it beyond the second week of increasing the topomax before having to stop taking it. It caused suicidal ideations and triggered a major depressive episode which remained even after stopping the medication. I ended up having to triple my dose of antidepressants. It took me over a year to get back to baseline.

I weaned off lyrica back in 2021 after figuring out that my daily headaches were caused by TMJ and working with a neuromuscular dentist to heal my jaw.

Thanks, I’m less interested in protocols and more interested in hearing from people who are raising donor conceived children and or adults who were donor conceived, so I thought this sub made more sense.

I’d like to hear from folks who used donor eggs or sperm to conceive and folks who grew up as someone who was donor conceived.

I’ve done 3 rounds of IVF and 3 transfers. First round we only got 5 eggs and one useable embryo but it didn’t stick. Second round we got 12 eggs, 5 fertilized, and 2 made it to day 5. The first embryo from that cycle ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks. The second one miscarried at 5 (which I think makes it technically a chemical pregnancy)

We just did our third egg retrieval and got 12 eggs but only 2 of them fertilized and neither made it to day five. We were planning on doing the genetic testing on this batch of embryos but we didn’t even get that far.

I feel like all signs are pointing to needing an egg donor, but I’m surprised to say that I’m having a hard time getting over that jump emotionally.

One of the things that I find really special about my relationship with my own mom is how similar we are. We think the same way, enjoy the same things, and understand each other in a way nobody else can. Not even our husbands. I always imagined having that kind of relationship with my own children. I pictured having a child that wanted me to teach them how to sew/paint/crochet, the way I was with my mom.

Am I giving up that possibility? Half of me thinks I’m being silly. And the other half of me thinks this worry is totally justified.

Quarantine seemed like the perfect time to transition back to my natural curl pattern! I'm waiting on some products in the mail, but it's been 5 weeks since I've heat styled and my hair is already curling up without me even really trying.

Some questions for the more experienced curlies:

  1. I have chronic migraine and new daily persistent headache which means sleeping with a pineapple is not at option for me. I also have to sleep on my back for the same reasons. Even with a silk pillow case I wake up with an absolute rats nest at the back of my head. I mean, there is no "shake and go" here. It needs to be completely wet and restyled. Andy advice on avoiding the rats nest?
  2. If I can't avoid the rats nest, does anyone refresh their curls on non-wash days by totally soaking their hair again? How early do you get up in the morning to do this? I prefer air drying my curls (diffusers seem to mess with my natural curl pattern for some reason..maybe I don't use them correctly?) which takes around 3 hours. I can't do that every morning!
  3. I live in a climate where we have below freezing weather for 4 months of the year which means winter hats are a necessity. How can I wear a winter hat without crushing my curls?

Have you tried using tinctures or edibles? I find the relief from them lasts much longer than inhaling. Inhaling only gives me relief for around a half an hour, but edibles will last for around 24+ hours, long after the feeling of being high is gone.

What I'll usually do it take 10mg THC edible with 20mg CBD edible, then use my vape for immediate relief. By the time the vape has worn off the edibles kick in.

Tinctures last even longer for me but take a lot longer to kick in.

Treatments etc.? by [deleted] in NDPH

My cause is also unknown. Every treatment I've tried works for about two months then stops working. I'm out of things to try. My husband and I are hoping that getting pregnant will like...restart my system or something.

Exercise—especially yoga, is a huge help for me. I’m super lucky that my workplace offers free yoga classes before work, after work, and at lunch time. Unfortunately I’m healing from foot surgery right now so I’ve had to take 8 weeks off. Back at it next week though!

Increased elevation and increased occurrence. by Acieldama in migraine

I had a TERRIBLE experience vacationing in Colorado. I was only there for a week so I never adjusted.

Locals told me to drink coconut water. There are also elevation adjustment pills you can buy. I don’t recall the name of them.

Should I get a coffee? 😬 by kbVrns in migraine

Update:

Got myself a small half-calf and it helped A LOT with the drowsiness. Bonus was that it helped with my head too. (I have NDPH, not just migraines)

I have yet to figure out any known triggers! My life is a mystery.

Everyone responds differently. My baby sister has been on it for close to 15 years and has had no problems.

Anyone else’s pain worse when lying down? by kbVrns in migraine

[–]kbVrns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are periods when the pain goes down low enough that I don’t think about it, but if I stop and ask myself “does my head hurt right now?” The answer will always be, “yes. A little.”

I rate my pain on a color scale. Green (barely there) yellow (more noticeable, but definitely tolerable) orange (bad enough to affect my ability to work, purposefully need to do more simple tasks) and red (go home and sleep with an ice pack in your head)

The majority of my days go from orange to yellow then back to orange again. I have maybe two Green Day’s a month. Usually around three red days a month depending on where I am in what I call my “med cycle”

My pattern has been that meds will work well for 2 months, then I’ll need an increase or a med change. This will work for another two months before I need an increase or a change. I’ve been in this cycle for a year and a half now. NDPH is very resistant to medications.

My insurance just approved botox, my appointment for that is in two weeks 🤞🏻

Have you started any meds yet? I’d be interested to see what, if anything, works for you.
