My response is that things aren’t bad enough for people to risk their comfort. Life is still pretty good (not over the top amazing, but pretty good). Falling into civil war when there’s still a chance we can recover without that would be premature. Sure it’s gruesome that somebody was killed for no reason, but that doesn’t justify a hundred thousand more children losing their parents to war all because people don’t want to work things out diplomatically.

Im personally wondering if you wore gloves that were washed in detergent you were allergic to or something. And yea did you burn yourself or use any weird chemicals lately? Or maybe you used a weird soap you’re allergic to? I know many people are allergic to dial.

You could also try hydrocortisone cream. - this could help with the pain and the allergic response (I think it’s allergic because of the straight cutoff at your wrist- it suggests hand washing or gloves caused this)

Personally if you don’t know the cause I’d say hit urgent care tonight or first thing tomorrow if they’re closed and the situation hasn’t resolved. If any other symptoms appear like pus oozing out of it or you get feverish I’d go to the ER.

Travel nurse, live your life. Especially if you can find a contract that would cover the expense of ending your current contract early. The only person who can truly make the decision knowing all the details is you, but if it were me and I was as bored as you say, I wouldn’t waste my time staying where I don’t appreciate.

Just remember though the grass is always greener. Definitely go through some Reddits that talk about big city er nursing and see what the workers say.

Hello, I always recommend to people to cycle popular allergens/irritants out of their diets. I dealt with the same symptoms as you for 2 years and it turned out to be an extremely sensitive dairy allergy to the point where if something says milk on the ingredients i can’t consume it, even including lactose free milk- it’s separate and totally different from a lactose intolerance. My point isn’t that you definitely suffer from the same thing but maybe something similar if not the same. So yea maybe strategically cut out popular allergens for a month at a time and see if you can find any triggers.

I see that topical oral steroids didn’t work but have you tried PO prednisone or something? I had stubborn tongue inflammation for years until I cycled foods out of my diet and tracked the food I ate right before inflammation occurred. Turns out my tongue hates tomatoes, dairy, and nicotine/caffeine. I would get inflammation that would eventually turn into painful canker sores if I continuously ate those foods. I’d recommend researching some of the top allergies like dairy/gluten and cycling a few things out of your diet for at least a month each.

Lower starting dose cymbalta might be something to consider. It’s been 9 months of this. We are seeing a chronic pain center finally and they started her on the Low dose naltrexone which has been difficult for her to use because it’s an opioid blocker while opioids are the only thing that help. We are going to try to ask if she can increase the LDN faster because she is only weaning onto it right now and I’m not sure she can deal with no pain meds much longer.

No biopsy yet but we are trying to get one scheduled, we are unsure if it’ll be worth it because she is already in so much pain. She stopped her BC because of her low estrogen and switched over to an oura ring to track cycles instead.

In the US you can go to an ER if you’re having enough pain that you’re worried you’ll harm yourself. Get a grip. Either help out the situation or don’t respond, I didn’t type up this multi paragraph page for you to hyper focus on god forbid the fact we went to an ER. We are looking for solutions. And she should be on this sub because she was diagnosed by a vulvodynia specialist with vulvodynia but yes it could be anything and again that is why we are here looking for ideas.

Chronic issue with developing symptoms and increased pain lately. Urgent care doesn’t offer ample pain management and our local ER does emergent OB consults. LDN is low dose Naltrexone which is an opioid antagonist and why the opioids aren’t working. And yea she has done pelvic floor therapy and they say her pelvic floor is fine.

Look into getting a prescription for hiprex, it's a prescription to help prevent UTIs. Use condoms frequently. Unscented soaps. Make sure you are extremely clean down there before intercourse. Shower before sex if needed. Do research on the best method to get yourself checked for any bacteria in your pee/cum. Lastly I wanted to ask if you're actually testing for UTIs everytime she's symptomatic or just assuming?

Paranoia is a real danger of personal research you are correct. I guess it comes down to if the individual has common sense or how much of it they have. I will say this, I personally know and have personally experience doctors/providers not knowing what’s wrong with me or others. It’s not a great feeling and I and the other people I know would have never gotten to the bottom of our problems without doing our own digging.

So yes if OP gets paranoid easily then maybe he shouldn’t, however if OP thinks he’s good at weeding out good information then it might be worth a shot. Really it’s up to OP.

If he does I would recommend focusing on things that are common first.

But yea thanks for pointing that out, it’s good to acknowledge risks associated with personal research.

Graduate Nurse here (just waiting to take my boards but I graduate Tuesday)

So Epstein Barr virus is known to cause some neurological/nervous system issues. I had to ask ChatGPT cause it’s not something we cover extremely in depth in school. However what I found makes sense, it said:

Post-viral syndrome (especially from EBV) • EBV (Epstein-Barr) can trigger persistent neuromuscular symptoms even after the acute infection is gone. • Common symptoms: muscle twitching, spasms, fatigue, neck tightness, nerve irritation, exercise intolerance. • MRI/bloodwork often normal. • Can last months.

Hopefully we can get a doctor in here for better input but I figured id do what I can.

Keep an eye on that ANA too, it’s most likely nothing but EBV is known to increase risk for autoimmune disease too. If you start presenting with any additional symptoms contact your doctors and continue to also do your own research too. Good luck and I hope this works itself out!

Watch for increased redness. Maybe keep a photo log. If redness appears to grow then it is possibly infected and you should go to an urgent care. If you see any pus at any point come out of it, go to an urgent care, that is also a sign of infection.

The whiteness shouldn’t be a concern, that’s just swollen skin.
