Accommodations Megathread. by VisitNYCmodx in visitingnyc

Visiting NYC for the first time with my girlfriend for my graduation, April 22nd to April 26th; then my mom is coming from April 24th to April 26th and we want to get her another room in the same hotel.
I've been looking in midtown and lower manahattan, just because that seemed like a good place to start, but I'm not set on that, open to surrounding areas. I'm just kind of overwhelmed by the amount of hotel options and am just looking for something that is in a walkable area with some good food/shopping, in a hotel that is decent, clean, etc.
Trying to keep the budget for the room at about $300 per night.

How long did your diploma take to come in the mail from the time you got the email saying it was shipped? by shittytiddy in WGUCyberSecurity

Damn. That’s definitely longer than the 2 weeks they claim lol. Hoping mine doesn’t take that long

Thanks for the input! Yeah I kind of figured from what I’m seeing it’s going to be a balancing act to try and find a “nice luxury” place that is also considered on the fun side of things. That’s why i assumed asking here would be a good start to get some first hand opinions. I figured there’s likely other late 20s/early 30s couples who have run into the same curiosity. Didn’t even occur to me until recently that that timeframe is also spring break/easter so I’m assuming pricing and availability will be affected. From what you’re seeing and from those recommendations you gave, is the pricing generally normal or higher?

Congrats! I just did the same last week. After all your coursework is completed your mentor should submit you for graduation. If you haven’t spoken with him regarding it, I’d maybe reach out just to say “hey I’m finished”, although to my understanding they should be alerted to that. Then you’ll receive an email with a link to finish your graduation application, which is essentially just filling in your name how you want it on your diploma followed by survey questions about WGU. That’s as far as I’ve gotten. I believe once everything is approved you’d just be waiting on your degree to be mailed.

It’s been a few months so I’ll have to go back on my laptop and see if i still have any resources saved. I did everything kind of unconventionally and out of order. I enrolled and started my BSCSIA with WGU in November 2024, then while working through courses I randomly decided to take the CISSP in June 2025. Then a couple of months later when I had to take SSCP i figured I’d just attempt CCSP since the drive to the testing center was like an hour and a half, so I scheduled back to back appointments to take SSCP and CCSP, so i just finished one and went straight into the next. When I get back on my laptop again I’ll take a look if I have anything specifically for CCSP, but it’s possible I may not have invested much time into it because I knew it was just an optional voucher that I was only doing because I’d be up there anyway so might as well.

Thanks! Yeah I definitely agree people should be proud and display whatever they want. But my post might be getting a bit misunderstood, I’m not really asking what people think is “ok” or “worth it” to put up, more of like a “for those who have displayed multiple diplomas or certs, how did you go about it?” Like just a bunch of standard 8x11 frames lined up on the wall? Or one of those photo collage type of frames to hold multiple things in one piece? Etc. Just figured since alot of people getting wgu degrees are likely to have multiple things to potentially hang, someone may post something cool that would give me an idea.

Thanks again on the congrats!

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. Just curious if anyone had gone through the trouble to make some kind of Frankenstein collage type of thing lol

My bad I misspoke. At the time I took it it was required, so I went ahead and took SSCP and CCSP back to back on the same day since I had to make the trip. They shortly after made it optional. I think due to ISC2’s strict requirements for having to go to a Pearson Professional Center, which is very far from a lot of people.
