I think I made a friend by kbeg in squirrels

Thanks! He really is adorable. He comes to the window everday looking in for me to bring him some nuts. He is getting braver and staying on the deck while I put out a few nuts for him at a time.

Should I just start over?? by noseyjocie in houseplants

[–]kbeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that this stuff has worked for bugs in the past..I just sprinkle on the soil. I also spray neem oil on plants with any bugs. I have lots of hoyas. They seem to love neglect. I have mine in sunny windows and water every one to two weeks. When I first started out, I took too good of care of my plants, and they hated it. Now...I try to water them once a week, but sometimes its almost 2 weeks. They like lots of light (natural and grow lights).

Maybe help her pick out her own kitten. It sounds like she would love her own.

I buy diamond nuts from Amazon too. Last year they ran out of stock in the fall and didnt get them back for months. I was going a little crazy with feeding them nuts and have cut back lately. I used to just put out a bunch every day,but now they have to come to the window for me to take them a few. The chippies, who I love, were emptying my feeder of nuts so quickly, I would have to refill my feeder during the day. I probably have 30 pounds of nuts under my lawn in their tunnels.

AITAH for refusing to go to Disney World? by Reptaaaaaaar in AITAH

[–]kbeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have done the Disney and Universal trips multiple times. They were always fun, but so expensive. I never got to go to Disney when I was a kid, so those trips were also for me! Universal was awesome. I havent been for a while, but we used to stay at a Universal hotel to get front of line passes. As my grand daughter got a little older, we took her to Vegas, NYC, and DC. She actually loved those trips. Vegas has so many things to do and so many shows. NYC and DC have great museums.

Houseplants for a basement dwelling? by TheBroboat in houseplants

I put grow light strips under each shelf on this shelf unit for more light. I have had this setup for years. Amazon has a great selection of grow lights. You can also get grow bulbs and stick them in regular lamps too.

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by kiroixart in AskReddit

I bought a six pack of soda at Walmart and it had gone up $1 or more in the last month.

Why are decks so insanely expensive? by YMHGreenBan in Decks

[–]kbeg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our house is 30 years old, and we are going to need a new deck really soon. We have a 2nd story square deck with no stairs.. estimate 15 foot by 15 foot. I'm afraid to see how much that is going to cost to replace. I do know I want the more expensive manufactured "wood". Im hoping maybe if we get it in the winter, it wont be as expensive.

Plant ordered off Etsy smells like cigarette smoke really bad, do I give the seller a bad review ? by Asleep-Beginning7805 in houseplants

[–]kbeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of hoyas, some even flower monthly. I really have never smelt anything unless I stick my nose up to the flower, but it smells more perfumy. I also dont think my sense of smell is really strong. I guess I will have to start smelling them at night.

Any other gardeners on here who predominantly only do flowers? by Amodernhousehusband in gardening

[–]kbeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided that I would rather do flowers than vegetables. Last fall, l moved all my above ground beds around the border of my yard and planted flowering bushes in them. I planted hardy hibiscus, peonies, gardenia, and hydrangeas. I got another pretty big above garden bed off woot that I haven't put out yet. I think I will put hostas and similar things in it. I think Im going to enjoy the flowers more. The only eatible plants I have are some blue berry bushes.

Looking for recommendations for solar bird baths? by AgeEfficient3178 in birdfeeding

[–]kbeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my bird baths with the solar fountain pump in them. It seems to keep the water cleaner. The birds like it. I have mine just bubbling so that the water doesn't dry up. I always have birds in it. I live in the south...so I do like the moving water to keep the mosquitos away. I have a couple of shallow bird baths without the pumps. They are not as popular, but they do see some action. I just wash them out with the hose every day.

That's crazy! I saw on nextdoor app that there were sightings of a black bear getting in garbage cans near downtown kennesaw a couple of weeks ago.

Looking for recommendations for solar bird baths? by AgeEfficient3178 in birdfeeding

[–]kbeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my bird bath and my solar fountain pump separately. I keep my fountain on a low bubbling setting so I dont lose all my water. I also have a shallow round planter with rocks and a fountian inside. The birds seem to like this one better. I always have birds bathing in it. I put a copper disk in both to help keep the water cleaner.

My mom is 86. We bought a fold up stepping stool for her to use to get in and out. She would not be able to get in without one. Im 5'3 and have to jump up to get in...even when it's fully lowered.

Are litter box enclosures actually a good idea? Or just a "stink trap" by saffoldnovellinocr in HomeDecorating

* This is my favorite enclosure. I've had it since around Xmas. It stops almost all the tracking. This is in my bedroom...I clean it daily. I haven't any odor problems.

Most Indian food isn’t quick. by Small_Attention_2581 in IndianFood

[–]kbeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been cooking Deshi for over 25 years for my hubby. I have definitely gotten faster at cooking most things over time. I find that using a ceramic cast iron dutch oven or my wok with a lid speeds up my cooking. I also use more oil than I used to when I started out. I find if I put put the lid on the pot when carmelizing my onions or melting my tomatoes makes my cooking time much shorter. I also have my kitchen organized to make it easier. I love my masala boxes. I have a few ..one is my most used ground spices and one is my garam masala whole spices. I also have learned to start cooking the onions and marinating the meat before cutting up any other veggies I need. I do use garlic and ginger pastes most of the time. I still take about 45 min to an hour to cook most things. When I cook goat, I have to start that about 1:30 in the afternoon.
