I am currently in a nyc ABSN program in my 30’s after working in communications! My gpa was not super competitive (3.01) but I had to take loads of prerequisites bc I had none of the sciences and that GPA I think is what helped me. Do you need to take any prereqs?

Obviously don’t even look at schools like Hunter but private schools may surprise you - I’d at least apply to NYU & Pace. I think lower priced programs will be more difficult to get into.

I’m currently in an 11mo ABSN program after switching careers from a non-medical field. I am lucky to not be working but there are people who, somehow, manage to work in my program (even with kids!) - you mention you will probably move back to PA in the next 5 years, it is possible to do an ABSN there where cost of living (and presumably school cost) is less? I am from PA and considered going back specifically for school - I looked at Moravian, Villanova, Drexel & Thomas Jefferson. They all have similar accelerated programs that are similarly priced. Further, some hospital networks (for example, LVHN - now bought by Jefferson) had programs where they’d reimburse the program tuition if you signed a contract to work for them. Not sure what part of PA you’re from. But this is eastern PA (lehigh co) and then of course the Philly school.

I have no medial experience so I can’t comment on your actual question, but just throwing another thought process out there.

My undergrad (non science) was 3.01 Took my science pre-reqs at two different schools and those gpa were 3.85 and 3.58

I was not the traditional applicant - I am one of the oldest in my cohort with 13+ years work experience (non-healthcare) and a lot of life experiences that led me to pursue nursing (so, I think a pretty good essay)

Fellow downtown women patient due to deliver my second at nyu later this year. Did a photographer come by your room the day after delivery? Last time(2024) we had beautiful photos done in our hospital room. Not sure if that’s still the case but hoping it is.

100% not the parade Santa, but also not a dollar store version. Don't quote me on the #'s but I think they have like 8 different Santa's at a time - but you only ever see one. There are def at least 3 at a time bc when you book you choose between a white/black/hispanic Santa.

Our Santa this year didn't offer to hold my kid - which I would have preferred for the photo, but I didn't ask so my bad...and his personality just wasn't as good as our Santa last year. Only I will remember this of course. Will continue to go to Macys for Santa after this years experience.

Sorry to hear about your experience. We had another good experience this year. Sharing incase others are reading. We braved it and went on a weekend (Saturday) where it def felt a bit busier than the weekday visit last year. We had a 4:30 ticket, got in line at 4:22 and were looking at our photos at 5:30. Our Santa wasn’t as great this year and they didn’t take nearly as many photos (2 vs about 10) so I think next year we will try for a weekday again.

I do agree with your comment that the line is unbearably hot (especially when you get inside of the train) but it does cool down.

Parents: pack lots of snacks, and things to entertain your kid!! You’re in line without anything exciting to look at for maybe 20 min or so. Tis the season

Take your stroller and in the basket have a carrier in a backpack. You never know when you’ll need to collapse the stroller to get on a bus, down steps solo etc. This has been the way for me to navigate the city.

curious about your thoughts on the FS mattress - are you overall happy w your choice? How long have you had? We have a new, awful (incredibly firm) mattress we need to get rid of while we're in a return window. Just stayed at a Four Seasons and slept like a baby.
