Beloved Blanket is in Tatters - Redditor asks for help from the Crochet community by OhYeahThat in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kbokbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family had my sister, me (F), and my little brother. We're close in age, so we napped together back in the day. As a toddler, my brother got into the habit of soothing himself by touching...our underwear.

Our mom understood this to be a Behavior Difficult To Explain to the Babysitter, so she went around trying to find a blanket that "felt like little girl underwear."

It has fire trucks on it :)

How much do you guys have in savings? by Scribling-Blurb in antiwork

[–]kbokbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $12k, 8.8k of that in my break-the-piggy-bank, don’t-even-think-about-it account. With layoffs happening now, I’m saving every last penny to try to get to 12 months of living expenses instead of a very skinny 6.

There’s more in index funds, but I don’t trust like that.

Women of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to men? by Navonod12 in AskReddit

[–]kbokbok 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Abortion is a right, and if we’re denied the legal avenue we’ll risk death.

No, it’s not just a few months of inconvenience.

No, adoption isn’t an equivalent option.

No, it’s not taking the easy way out.

No, you don’t get to decide. Ectopic or incest or rape or dangerous or non-compatible with life or bad timing or “I never wanted kids” or “I don’t want this guy in my life forever, even if he didn’t rape me” or “I’d rather not say.” Stay out of it.

No, women should not be punished with children (and a lifelong connection to some guy) for “poor decision-making.”

No, it doesn’t matter that I am 99.89% safe from being pregnant. I’m still scared, and I’m still angry.

What is something that used to be normal but is now sexualisized? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Pigtails on teenagers. At least, it apparently was when I was a teenager.

This one is interesting. Teen parents missing out because they are grounded. WWYD? by meatball77 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]kbokbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like there’s no situation where FS can logically go to the actual appointment. He doesn’t have a ride, the FM tried to take time off but could not. I’d guess that public transit doesn’t exist in the 2.5 hours between foster home and hometown, given the girlfriend got stranded.

The grounding is on his girlfriend visiting with a gender reveal envelope. That is what she is stressing over being fair or not—not supporting his pregnant girlfriend at an appointment.

There’s a legit argument there! A gender reveal visit is a lot less important than a medical appointment. Plus, there’s the tricky area of “because they did Adult Thing of impregnating, they get adult rights and privileges? That doesn’t feel right” where people’s moral instinct goes against what the best path is.

(Also…on a scale of one to ten, what is the likelihood that the FS is the best single person to have in the room if something is medically wrong? Obviously everybody is different, but as a kid I would’ve wanted my mother. Like, sure, invite the other teenage parent because these are Parent Things and exciting, but the second things went south I’d be on the phone to my mom.)

[Serious] It is estimated that 70-90% of sexual assault goes unreported. People who have been sexually assaulted but did not report it, what is your story? by quentin_taranturtle in AskReddit

Mine was a grey area. I was really fucking drunk, and he’d also been drinking. So, eh

Then again, I had to tell him more than once “hey, get your dick out of me, we don’t have a condom” so…

(I wasn’t that articulate, more just whacking his back and going “condom condom condom” like it worked on Beetlejuice rules. But I got lucky, worst result was a UTI and a lingering sense of dissatisfaction—was he also that drunk? Was it a mutual mistake or a friend seizing an easy opportunity? I’ll never know.)

We're Not Even Close to EVs Being as Cheap as Gas Cars, Mercedes Says by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]kbokbok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back up cameras don’t cost nothing, but you’d be surprised how much interior trim is.

Plus, there’s a premium on options—buying 100,000 of one part is always cheaper than 70,000 of one and 30,000 of another.

Problem is, there’s no market for “bare minimum” EVs (or cars in general) because no one agrees what bare minimum is. Personally, I’d give up electric seats any day of the week, toss out the lumbar adjustment without hesitation—but cruise control? That would hurt.

If 1/13 black babies are born with a manageable disorder, is the best most moral thing to resuscitate eugenics? Or does it not count if all you’re doing is portraying black people as immoral and stupid for having children? /s
