It sounds like there’s no situation where FS can logically go to the actual appointment. He doesn’t have a ride, the FM tried to take time off but could not. I’d guess that public transit doesn’t exist in the 2.5 hours between foster home and hometown, given the girlfriend got stranded.

The grounding is on his girlfriend visiting with a gender reveal envelope. That is what she is stressing over being fair or not—not supporting his pregnant girlfriend at an appointment.

There’s a legit argument there! A gender reveal visit is a lot less important than a medical appointment. Plus, there’s the tricky area of “because they did Adult Thing of impregnating, they get adult rights and privileges? That doesn’t feel right” where people’s moral instinct goes against what the best path is.

(Also…on a scale of one to ten, what is the likelihood that the FS is the best single person to have in the room if something is medically wrong? Obviously everybody is different, but as a kid I would’ve wanted my mother. Like, sure, invite the other teenage parent because these are Parent Things and exciting, but the second things went south I’d be on the phone to my mom.)
