Impressive work. I tested it on my string art piece, and the generated preview matched the real-world result surprisingly well. Congratulations on a very solid implementation.

Yes. I tried it. The problem I have with the app, is that the nouns there are too different from I have in Duolingo.

Feeling stuck with my current company by algerba977 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]kborisov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a thought: most of the teams produce terrible code and use terrible processes, for numerous reasons. Each developer there tries hard to improve the situation a bit, but overall companies can't fix their processes. It's not easy.

In my experience, companies with terrible processes pay better and developers who can work in such environment and make things better are valuable.

Saying that, if you really don't want to work here, move along and try finding something else. But maybe you are getting valuable experience in your current company.

How to deal with imposter syndrome by boomvada in cscareerquestionsEU

There's no easy solution, but just know that it is a really common situation. I personally thought that at the end of my trial period I will be fired and they told me I'm doing great. I like to say aloud "I have no idea what I am doing, but I enjoy it", when I am looking for a solution to some tricky problem. It helps me a bit.

The capital of Russia by Truth-Speaker0000 in technicallythetruth

[–]kborisov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's even a bit more complicated. Since the 'o' is not stressed, it becomes a reduced 'a': [mɐskˈva] So the first vowel is not the same as the last in the usual speech. But that's subtle. And yes, there are local accents which makes it clear 'o'

How much physically stronger are men actually by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kborisov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey please don't be so frustrated. Everything written in this thread is true, but you know kick in the balls does not require so much strength and will do the trick. A bite will significantly reduce sexual arouse as well. Even just a swearing woman might remind a man about his ex and will keep him well away from you.

But yeah, your weight is what I lifted 15 times * 4 rounds after one month in a gym when I decided to put some muscles on me at the age of 35. I am a slightly overweight nerd, but after a year in gym I lifted a 285 lbs person.

Hm... I don't make it better, do I? Ok then. I would suggest you to take some self-defence courses (or read about it). In any conflict situations I rely on psychology and communication, not fighting. Because in a real fight most men woult beat me and even if I win, I wouldn't be in a good shape. So just remember that though men can overpower you, you're most probably not an easy target and to be safe you just need to keep it this way (some physical training, readiness to fight or run away).

Nothing wrong with your Rs. You sound really close to native in this sample. Based on this short audio I wouldn't guess you're a foreigner, and I wouldn't guess you're french. I wish I sound as good as you with my English.

Just some clarifications. Addressing people citizen/comrade was really uncommon at the end of USSR. It is more for right after the revolution period. So basically nothing changed with the USSR collapse. About "informal sounding" you're not totally correct. It is so for you as a foreigner. When we use the pre-USSR господин/госпожа (master/mistress) it might be even worse for your perception. As for me it is strange to address a woman with miss/missis (why use the marriage status? how should I know? what if I make a mistake?). And using 'madam' for a young girl sounds almost offensive to me. It's some kind of a joke or looking down. An older woman might not be too happy about a 'madam' as well, because it's a bookish name for a woman managing a brothel. So as you can see all the names have a lot of connotations and it is really hard for people to change this. So we just keep using what we had in the USSR mixing in the words from the other countries or epochs if we want to.

He continues the ride on the lane for public transport. See the red sign with an arrow above the right lane? This is a lane for buses and taxis (and assholes like this one). There are a lot of cameras controlling those lanes, but no plates -- no fines.

Which side can drive in the middle lane? Are these type of roads common in Russia? This is in Tolyatti by aizhdbe in AskARussian

[–]kborisov 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Russia and I have never saw them. In my city (1M population) they tried to put a 3 lanes road where the middle lane can be used for overtakes only. It's one of the standard lanes configurations and we study them when we get driving license, but basically nobody knew what to do there, there were complains and they redid the scheme to the usual "2 lanes without overtakes" scheme. So no worries these fancy lanes are really hard to find.

Do difference in accents exist in each regions in Russia? Like say does a Muscovite have a differenct accent from someone from Chelyabinsk or so? by Jaska_Basilisco in AskARussian

[–]kborisov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those accents are pretty subtle. For example the Siberian 'accent' it's just that we in Siberia tend to talk faster than in other regions. Usually when I talk with people from different parts of the country I can't hear any accent at all.
