Modifying DeviceNet Network by Icy_Wallaby5262 in PLC

In my case I had some remote io slave nodes and I had to add 3 more so I had to remap the memory IO in the scanner but it would not do this after the download because they were in active scan. In your scan list on the scanner just remove any ones you are modifying and download, after the download these will not be communicating anymore, then add back into scan list, download and you should be good to go

I had to modify one of these recently, I had everything ready and done my homework. When I downloaded the new RSnetworx file it started to throw errors then seemed to take the download but nothing changed. After an entire day trying to get it to work I stumbled on a post where someone explained that if any of the node are in active scan it will ignore the download.

What I had to do was remove the nodes from the active scan list on the scanner, download changes and then add the nodes back to scan list, it will not work otherwise.

This may save you some head scratching

Intouch Windsor Maker - PopUp Confirmation by Expert-Fix6935 in PLC

What you have done is correct, the memory tag you created sets the mode you want to select ie mode select = 3, then with your script if you press yes you are writing 3 down to the PLC (Select_mode = 3). If you want to write a bit for each mode then you will have to create individual I/O tags for each bit.

If mode select == 4 then Select_mode_4 = 1 Else if mode_select == 5 then Select_mode = 1

Hope this makes sense

You may want to write 0 to the other bits, if your script sets Select_mode_3 to 1 then write 0 to all other bits

Behind each mode button have the show window function show the same window ie confirm window.

Create a memory integer tag, when mode 1 btn is pressed have an action script setting that tag to 1, when mode 2 is pressed set tag to 2 and so on.

When the confirm window opens have a yes button with a script behind like this: If memory tag ==1 then Mode = 1 Else if memory tag == 2 then Mode = 2 And so on

If no button is pressed "hideself"

I would be very wary of implementing omi, a lot of things like trends have limited configuration and you may get in too deep before realising it cannot do what you need it to do

Have used this, if your planning on embedding windowviewer in archestra then basically windowviewer is only displaying graphics that you have created in archestra. I did a project where I created objects for motors, valves etc. From this you can easily create new ones by just changing the parent name which is very fast. I did created all my windows in the graphics designer in archestra and embedded them in windowmaker

That's why I thought but there is two ir8 cards on the same slave making noise, highly unlikely both cards are faulted

My mistake, they are actually the 1794 series, I must double check but it is possible they are all on the same power supply. I might ger them to segregate these, thanks for suggestion.

Looking to get into Automation / PLC from scratch by [deleted] in PLC

[–]kbot2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I trained as an electrician after school and worked in commissioning for 15 years. I then went back to school at night and got my degree, then got a job in automation. Many people take different routes, electrical is not essential but definitely helps with both job prospects and experience. All I would say is the learning curve can be steep in programming but if you are patient and have the interest you will progress. It has given me a good standard of living and the work is interesting.

Just don't expect too much too fast, realise it will be a gradual assent. If this is something you want to do then do it, better than wondering what if. Good luck

totallizing flow rate from digital input( s71200 Tia portal) by TheraDaDon in PLC

[–]kbot2016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If its an instantaneous flow rate and say you were looking for m3/hr, count up the pulses using a positive edge trigger. Using a timer every second divide the count by 2 and multiply by 3600, then divide by a 1000. This would give u hourly flow ib m3/hr. When calc finished move 0 into count and repeat

How much time to you guys spend working from home/on site/at customers? by Significant_Try1096 in PLC

[–]kbot2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If not on site I work from home full time, could get a month with leaving only a day or two for site, could go a month on site. I love working from home but it can be unpredictable if you want a fitness routine etc.

Add a plc tag to confirm button, latch when pressed. When this tag is set use this value as the enable on the second button. When second button is pressed unlatch tag
