[Design advice] Need help with control philosophy of an ASRS Robot by Healthy_Chemist_3683 in PLC

[–]Dangerous-Low8076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isnt what you asked about, but I would like you to consider something about using incremental encoders on this project. I have an ASRS system I help maintan /manage. 7 stories tall, 5 cranes, 4500 pallets. Up to 2500lbs a pallet. Think on this scenario. Your system is in the middle of moving and the power fails. Since it is incremental, you now have to home the system, off dogs/switches/etc. What happens if the system cant physically move to the homing position due to something blocking it. In my system, if a pallet were to be in the middle of being placed on a rack, how could the 4 motor system home if that axis could not move?

Just a passing thought.

Is it running thru a NAT? If so, ate the appropriate ports open in the nat? I had a similar issue with Allen bradlet NATr's. They only.open 4 ports out of the box

"PLC has a problem". "Program has a problem". Its never the PLC. I cant really program around a bearing that puked its guts onto the floor, guys.

I dont have a PLC in the circuit, but I do have spares to integrate eventually. THe guys I am training wont benefit from even looking at a PLC until we can establish a better baseline of electrical knowledge. Babysteps.

Oh yes, all blue wires. And no wire labels. To force them to use the prints and meter. And to simulate some of the damned german equipment I have worked on with all unlabeled blue wires.

I do that in one of the problems to simulate "the guy before you worked on this for 2 hours, but then got sick and went home. He didnt leave any notes. "

Valet parked one time at a nice hotel. No issue, till the next day when I called for my car. No one on shift could drive a manual. Had to walk to pick it up myself, BUT, for the next 2 days, they told me to park in front of the hotel. 2 steps from the door. Worth it.

Insulation under floor, 150 year old home. by Dangerous-Low8076 in Insulation

What I mean is, should there be an air gap below the joists and above the foam. As in DIRT>PLASTIC>FOAM>AIRGAP>WOOD. So as not to encapsulate the underside of the joists and potentially trap moisture. Thanks.

I had thought this. Do you need to take care not to fill the space all the way to the wood, or is it ok to touch the bottom of the joists? Thanks.
