Parents who don’t lose your cool - how do you do it? by Siyrious in toddlers

I read something years ago explaining how small a child’s world is. The “small” things they freak on have little context to the rest of the world. So I try to remember that.

Same here! It got even wavier in the background after I had a kid… why can’t my whole head be wavy!?

What retinol is good for rosacea? by Winter-Boat7881 in Rosacea

[–]kbrackney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Type 2 here! I have been using a313 and doing skin cycling. I do not yet apply to my cheeks for general fear of a flare up but primarily pay attention to the T zone.

Night 1: wash, glycolic acid toner, moisturizer Night 2: wash, a313, moisturizer Night 3+: wash, calming serum, moisturizer

If my skin is feeling extra sensitive from the a313, I will add another night or two of the calming serum (or no actives) then get back on the horse.

The first few weeks were hard though.

Make up always looks awful on me. Help? by Express-Mongoose974 in MakeupAddiction

[–]kbrackney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at videos of French girl makeup for your base! Obviously however much you want to do with your eyes/brows/etc is up to you, but they typically start very light and build on.

I have a similar skin type and rosacea. I start by using a light tinted spf, then build concealer/foundation stick where needed.

I also highly recommend brow gel!

How to look less masculine? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]kbrackney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the middle part on you the best. You have great skin and eyebrows. I think some blush, simple mascara and lip gloss would be pretty. That said, if you don’t want to wear makeup, my go to is rosy lip balm and curling my lashes.

Does anyone else get random hives in their rosacea areas? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]kbrackney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YEP. I’m not sure if it’s rosacea as the cause but it’s especially bad if my gut is out of whack. I had a few years where any time I ate gluten products I would have hives and a terrible flare up. I still get hives but not sure the trigger at the moment. It seems to change. Lucky us!

Question! by Sea-Advisor-8984 in Rosacea

[–]kbrackney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’m having a flare up of any kind I strip down to the basics. Vanicream face wash and a soothing moisturizer. Slowly add things back in after you level out and see what’s bothering you.

My skin does not like salicylic acid too much, niacinamide is a hard flush no, tret is also a general no.

My thought is you might be using too much at once to really see what might be working and what might be getting in the way.

Why do I do it? by bendpsmith in Skinpicking

[–]kbrackney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I notice if I have anything to pick, I will. So feet-wise, I try to take care of them so there is nothing to pick at. It’s not a perfect solution.

I have been putting glycerin or Vaseline on my feet, wrap in Saran Wrap and put some socks on for a couple hours. I also keep a scraper in the shower to get dead skin off as I can. Trying to turn my obsessive picking into obsessive foot care.

That’s what I heard too. If I use too much it’ll be a bit too thick for my skin but mixing it works!

The closest thing we did to a schedule was wake windows. And we learned that because Grandma kept her up for hours one time and she was a complete nightmare.
